i loved the article. call it nostalgia but its nice not to forget all those who played. i bumped into mark austin the other day and said i remember him from his blues days. he saw himself more as a dog but its still kinda coolCouldn't really understand the point of this story. Seemed to have none. It was like jumping in your car and driving to your neighbours house.![]()
apparently didnt take care of himself during offseason. i love a drink but when your afl career is on the line be disciplined for 3 months!!Makes me feel better about Boekhorst. Reckon he should’ve been given another year, but as you point out here, SOS hasn’t put a foot wrong with these decisions since taking over.
Be a good replacement for curnows roleI wonder what Holman is up to?
Now this is the list of the delisted 25 out of 40 list changes over the last 3 years. Doubt anyone would have any of these guys as best 25, at the start of this year, if they were on our list

So 6 traded for value ...
Gibbs, Tuohy and Henderson still playing and best 22 at their new clubs, Bell still playing not best 22, and Yarran and Menzel delisted.
And 3 delisted free agents in Holman, Gowers and Buckley.
The vast majority retired / finished as far as AFL level footy goes. No other club took Boekhorst, etc.
Already 3 players acquired and delisted in Palmer, Smedts and Gorringe.
Agree with your earlier post that SOS understands what we need. It is an incremental improvement in the quality of our list:
1 top end though the draft (Weitering, Charlie, Harry, SPS, Fisher, Dow, O’Brien)
2 other draft picks to improve on players 20-35 on our list (Cuningham, Jack, Macreadie, Polson, Williamson, Kerr, TDK, Schumacher, Garlett). It takes little imagination to see they are upgrades on who retired / we let go (in order, I say Boekhorst, Jaksch, Giles, Ellard, White, Everritt, Gorringe, Buckley, Sumner). Williamson and Jack have jumped up into the 22.
3 targeted trades (Kennedy and Lang) who address / will address our needs.
4 DFAs so Wright and Mullett currently. Gorringe didn’t work.
4 depth players (some of whom we are currently forced to play due to injuries) O’Shea, Mullett, Shaw, Lobbe. Last year it was Smedts, and Palmer got just the 1 match.
It’s a work in progress.
Kristian Jaksch has kicked 14 goals in 2 weeks playing for Carey in the VAFA.
Looks like he has found his level.Kristian Jaksch has kicked 14 goals in 2 weeks playing for Carey in the VAFA.
That incremental improvement is the bedrock of our depth and future strength. We always had talent at the top end..just the middle band of players really fell away alarmingly. So 6 traded for value ...
