Barlow officially counts as a NSW rookie, despite the fact he played for Oakleigh.

They're all a long long shot to see senior action this year. None looks as progressed as Vogels, the only rookie from last year to get promoted. Currie and Barlow have shown some nice touches in their two outings this year (plus, by reports, Currie did OK in LA too).

Currie kicked 3 in LA and then kicked 2 against the dons the other week

Currie, Barlow and Garruba all played on the weekend against North in the Nab Cup. Only Barlow with 9 possies did anything to enhance his reutation. Currie was poor and Garruba playing on a half back flank was beaten, albeit generally playing on a senior North player. I saw Garruba in the under 16s 3 years ago and he played briefly in the u18s 2 years ago (he concentrated mainly on schools footy). He is very quick and likes a contestbut I think his best possie is midfield/wing and he looked out of place at half back, unsure of when to peel off and when to stick with his man. Of the others Phillips is a talent but small (172cm). He's quick got good hands and is a good tackler. Probably physically most similar to Stephen Milne. Quicker than Milne, a better mark and harder worker, but lacking Milne's 'freakishness'. It's worth remembering MIlne was a long time in the system (with Essendon and St Kilda) before making his mark. I doubt that Phillips will be given that long.
