I've said this before on the Board but I'll say it again ...
I used to be involved in umpiring and was in the changerooms quite a few times for AFL games at Footy Park. Every single Victorian umpire came over saying 'we can't listen to the crowd, we can't listen to the crowd' so they ended up just not paying anything on the basis they didn't want to give in to the crowd ... even the 90% of the time the crowd was right.
Both Port and us.
I know, the crowd would simply be involved in the game and the umpires would make their decisions based on this because Victorians like Mguire whinge and people listen. Really demented shit. I dare say its mutated. I hear time and time again the home ground advantage of umpiring, except when we play in Victoria, according to the Victorian run television broadcasts, the umpiring is always fine.
Did you notice that last nights fox footy team consisted of 40 % Geelong supporters and 100 % Victorians? Yet last night was so blatant at times the Footscary bloke was heard numerous times in the background when we were ripped off.
