On Friday night, we witnessed the answer to EFC's problems. The answer, Brent Stanton. The way he just ran and ran and ran, he was like a Duracell battery. 25 possessions, 10 marks and 2 goals is absolutely magnificent. And he's only what, 19?

Imagine him when he's in his prime.

Super impressive, agree about the kicking but i have noticed improvement. Said in another thread he reminds me of Rob Harvey (kicks it further though).

How the hell did we get Bradley, Stanton, Nash and Dyson in the same draft.

Yeah I'm sure he reads the internet for encouragement. Dosen't change the fact he is an ordinary kick either.

I think his kicking has noticeably improved from last year. Last year I would have given his kicking a 4 out of 10, this year I'd give his kicking a 6.

If he can get it up to an 8, he will be a gun, because his ball-winning ability is unquestioned.

He's a good kick of the footy when he doesn't second guess himself.
Friday night he didn't hesitate in any of his decisions and hence used the ball really well.

last year stantons disposal was a bit ordinary.

he has obviously been working on it as he has improved in leaps and bounds this season. i have been very impressed with him. has improved out of sight.

unfortunately because of last year there is still a certain stigma attached to stanton about his ball use.

instead of people automatically posting stuff like "shame about his disposal" it would be nice to see them write something more productive like "had one or two dodgy kicks but apart from that was fantastic".

21 of 25 disposals on target. 5 inside 50's.

That's a pretty effective game.
yeah his kicking is still poo-like and he hasnt improved at all has he : |

have to wonder if dyson would have been in the same position as stanton is now, had he got the same amount of game time. imagine that...*drools*

potentially dyson can be that quick, classly, silky player we've missed in the midfield. Stantons best game for the club because he took the first option and backed himself with his kicking (looked more confident).

With Bradley, Stanton, Lovett, Dyson and Co. things are looking bright for the future.

Really enjoyed watching Stanton on Friday night, was absolutely brilliant, best game he's played by far. What I would really like to see is consistency, let's see if he can back it up this week against a much classier, more physical side in Brisbane. If he has a game like he did against Collingwood, and delivers the ball like he did to Lloyd on Friday - we might be in with a show of producing a respectable result against Brisbane (and not lose by 50+ like I thought after the Roos and Tigers games!)

I enjoy watching stants play. Ricky Dyson is going to be awesome for us, such a beautiful user of the ball.

In the practice match earlier this year against brisbane, Winderlich tore the lions a new one...let's hope he gets another chance at that!

Agree 100% dodgy - havent seen him stuff one up for a long time, IMO he is one of the best kicks in the team. Last year he had problems when running full tilt he would drop the ball on his foot wrong and kick tumble punts. He has corrected this. Its funny when he does one kick that is a clanger lots of people start talking about how he cant kick. Have seen him use his left side aswell.

It is very important that our new midfield we are building up is dual sided. It makes such a big difference. The Brisbane midfield is seriously dual sided. Guys like Aka, Voss, Lappin, Black seem to kick as well on their non preffered as their preferred side. The ball can be moved on so much quicker with such players. Apparently Monfries has a very good left foot kick.

if there were any doubts about his kicking, i think they were all squashed in last nights game. i'm pretty sure at least 3 of lucas's goals were a result of pinpoint passes from stanton. he also stuffed one down lloyd's throat in the second quarter so that means at least 4 goals a direct result of stanton's kicking.

forget 200 games, this guy could play 300 :D
