Agree, the Living End is one of Australia's greatest bands but they get over looked by one album wonders like Jet and Wolfmother and who the **** is Augie march?

Augie March are bloody great.:thumbsu:

Silverchair were a let down but could not agree with Midnight Oil's speech more- the industry is obsessed with huge success from reality shows (cough....Idol....cough) these days. They are bloody right!

For the most part I loved the show, apart from the godawful Veronicas. Heard they got shoes and drink bottles thrown at them onstage in Adelaide for Live "n Local on Saturday night.

I couldn't figure out Bernard Fanning either-how you can not win your minor category but win the overall gong is confusing.

Really enjoyed Pete Murray, Bernard Fanning and Eskimo Joe's live performances. Still wondering what the fuss is about over John Mayer though??

The real highlight was the Oil's induction into the Hall of Fame. Where are our politcal activists now? John Butler aside, they're all pretty lame really.

Pete Murray is a joke.

Sorry, I meant his being a 'hottie' not his guitar playing abilities.

What about his soulful eyes? And his hair is to DIE FOR! pfft you know NOTHING about music.

Yeah, but even if he played on his own, people would complain that this is an "Australia Only" music awards. I am going to see him on Friday night @ the Enmore.

I missed John Butler- what did he say?

The Australian music industry makes me laugh, so insecure, so average, and so up itself.

Not one bloke (or woman) at the ceremony last night would be even half the guitar player John Mayer is imo.

I'm concerned that you praise The Living End and don't even know who Augie March is. That's really worries me.

Typical Rove- dead silence at his jokes is a hint Rove, you ain't funny!

Highlight of the night (as it is every year) seeing him crash and burn on the Arias stage :D. David Campbell hosting the Arias when they were on Channel 9 a few years ago almost tops it, Rove gets the nod though as he gets no reaction EVERY year :p.

The Arias have been pretty crap for years, always expect it to be a pretty bland affair.

I felt so sorry for Mayer at the end- Rove's "Your body is a wonderland" joke was lame, even by his standards. He looked like he wanted to deck Rove at the afterparty!

Whats with some of these nominations...Augie March? Have they really deserved nominations for their album?

Are you really more concerned with the fact that one of Australia's more original and interesting bands gets an album nominated, than the fact that Wolfmother and the Veronicas actually walk away with awards

John Mayer is probably my most respected and liked musician in the world. He is an absolutely awesome guitar player, i loved it when he ripped out that little solo last night, but also he is an absolute pisser of a bloke.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79Z40m2d4UQ
This is from his very short lived tv show (or maybe it was special) on VH1...

Lol he is a champ.. Alot of you prob seen him on CHapelle show too pisser in that.

If your into roots n all that jazz you see a fair amount of political activists. JBT and Xavier Rudd are two very big ones. I expect to see at least 4-5 speeches on how bad the australian music industry is at Falls Festival...

Bernard Fanning was a very deserving winner of Album of the Year. I am looking forward to the day when Powderfinger reunite and write / play songs again.

Glad someone noticed

Thier acceptance speech was pure class.

... and listen here Lil` Danny Johns , the "Garrett 4 PM" thing was done 20 years ago by hundreds of Gen Xers . Still reckon i have that T-shirt somewhere .

Yeah, you're probably right, they're both half the guitar player he is. I stand corrected.

There were some photos in the paper this morning from the ARIAs, and I noticed one of Stephanie McIntosh. What was she doing at a Music Awards ceremony? Waiting the tables, or serving the drinks?
