It's golf. It's not even a sport. Would it be news if he had gone on pleasant 2 hour riverside walk before the game? Maybe having a beer whilst doing so?

You realise that back, hips and knees are common golfing injuries right?

Anyone who is playing that many rounds is also playing seriously. He would have been putting a lot of torque through his core. But sure... despite all the evidence keep your head in the sand.

Apparently Stark also played 3 games. Just saying 🤷‍♂️

Mitchell Starc has taken 412 wickets and only needs three more to become the greatest, left handed quick bowling wicket taker of all time.
Currently Wasim Akram holds the title with 414 wickets.
Starc is looking as good as ever in addition to being fit and resilient so he may be able to push that record out a bit further before the Ashes is over.

Most wickets, sure.

Wasim is still the GOAT leftie (that I've seen). WAFG.

Yeah total wickets only tells a bit of the story.

At the cricket last week I had some guys sitting behind me talking about Starc and how he's approaching the number of wickets Dale Steyn took.

That surprised me because in my mind Starc is a great bowler, but Steyn is one of the greatest bowlers I've ever seen period.

Yep.

Along with a couple of famous Caribbean bowlers, as well as Thommo at his peak, Wasim was one of the bowlers I would have liked to face the least. Quick arm action, late swing and nasty bounce off a good length...shudder.
I wouldn't like to face Starc's 150km in swinging yorkers either.

Tait.

Most of those others knew exactly where the ball was going and hence could show you mercy if you bought them some chocolate or whatever.

Tait doesn't have the control to have that option. Would not get in a net with him.

Shaun Tait is the example that prove just how rare it is to have someone bowl over 140km/h and how dangerous simply bowling that fast alone can be.

If someone rolled up and could bowl 180km/h they would be playing test cricket and that's all they need, land it near the sticks at the other end and you're playing.

And yet I could walk around a local cricket field and there's going to be someone there who believes they could send them down at 140+ in their day.

Good on them.

I heard Mark Wood wanted to drive from Perth to Brisbane

Should we tell him its not like going from Plymouth (South West of UK) to Newcastle (North East of UK) which is 7 and half hours.

Or let him do the 46hr drive.
Cracking drive, and since they don’t seem to be keen on doing any training in the time between tests (!), why not? Take 6-7 driving days would be my recommendation, see the sights

It blows my mind blokes can consistently get bat on 160 deliveries (even if they look uncomfortable). 180 would be unplayable.

140+ is proper fast. If you can do that and land the ball on the pitch you should be playing grade somewhere. Either that or play D grade in some regional town for the LOLs.

Drove Perth Brisbane in 2021 and it took us 7 days taking our time a bit. 5 days would be pushing it with a couple of pretty long days.

As has been pointed out, Golf is, apart from fast bowling, one of the worst sports for rotation and putting excessive torque on the spine and supporting structure.

Akram was brilliant to watch.
At one point they had Akram, Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar in the same team.
No thanks 😳

I recall Akram hitting David Boon flush on the grill first ball of an ODI (maybe the WACA?). Boony didn't even have time to fend with his bat. The look on his face afterwards - when the colour returned - said it all.

No more than 8 driving hours a day is my rule of thumb. Took 6 days last time I went Canberra-Perth, plenty of time to stop, look at things, and chill.

+ Saqlain.

Only problem was both Waqar (especially) and Wasim were past their best.

Would have been amazing to have them all their peaks together. Early Waqar was ridiculous.

And I think a fair few games less.
