I was thinking today that i would like to create a brief summary of the carlton football club and its performance in the 2006 season.

We can find out what we all really think on various carlton issues as well as what the carlton fans think about other AFL teams and players.

Biggest surprise- Kade Simpsons very consistent season

Most exciting carlton player- Fevola

favourite carlton game- VS west coast at subi (disapointing finnish but was great to see our boys giving them a bath for 3 quarters)

Favourite non-carlton game- Essendon V Richmond. Dean Polo's debut he was best on ground and the final quarter was nail bititng.

Most disapointing thing about 06- Murph injuring his shoulder and smorgans handling of Denis Pagan.

Most disapointing carlton player of 06- Would have liked to see a bit more from Bentick

Best sign for the future of the CFC-the triangle of walker, simpson and murphy. Also is silvagni or ratten can be seen around the club a bit more.

Worst sign for the future of the CFC-the current board, who are an absolute disgrace

favourite carlton game- Our first game against Essendon- everything went right, Fev kicked 7 (I think?), all the kids looked good, the future was looking rosy

Favourite non-carlton game- Dont watch non-Carlton games. Have to say though the 138 point 'bend-over-and-think-happy-thoughts-Essendon' game in Adelaide was entertaining though

Most disapointing thing about 06- I think three and a half wins says it all doesnt it?

Most disapointing carlton player of 06- Ian Prendergast? Nah, seriously (Prender was ***** from the get go) Stevens was the player that frustrated me off the most. Never took his head out of his arse.

Best sign for the future of the CFC- Gimme an M, gimme an A, gimme an R, gimme a C.........

Worst sign for the future of the CFC: Depends on whether or not guys like Prendergast are finally given the arse. Time to stock up on kids and tell the old fringe blokes to pi$$ off. Also depends on whether or not Deluca is still here in twelve months time. Oh, and Smorgon is an arse-clown.

When Pagans contract has expired should he be replaced? If we look like making the finals the next year, yes. Othwise, give him the arse. If so, by who and why? Tommy Hafey or John Kennedy (is he still alive??) Lance would lose 15 kgs just at the thought of training under one of those two.

Who should succeed Whitnall as captain? Walker should succeed Koutoufides When should Whitnal step down as captain? Five minutes after he is offered the job, so he can give it to Walker.

FINAL THOUGHTS- 2009: Gibbs, to Murphy, to Walker, to Simpson, to Betts, to Fevola, goal. Adelaide and Port: get stuffed.

Most exciting carlton player- Tie between Walker and Simpson. Love players who back themselves and run.

favourite carlton game- vs Melbourne Round 1. The most hope I have had all year.

Favourite non-carlton game- Probably Bulldogs vs Collingwood, first week of the finals. Awesome display.

Most disapointing thing about 06- Inability to close out games we really should have won.

Most disapointing carlton player of 06-Nick Stevens by a street.

Best sign for the future of the CFC-Youngsters pure and simple .. plus the fruition of an experiment made good with Setanta O'hAilpin.

Worst sign for the future of the CFC-Purely the unknown. Not knowing whether we will recover onfield or off. Not knowing whether we will be bailed out by benefactors should push come to shove.

favourite football moment of 06-Sheer amount of brilliant goals, can't split them. Simpson, Kouta, Betts, Carrazzo, Fevola AND a couple of classy running goals from Murphy and Walker.

Most disapointing carlton player of 06- I don't think anyone really disapointed me as the rubbish a large group of players served up I expected. In saying this I think Stevens was a bit down on form.

FINAL THOUGHTS- Spend a large amount of money on marketing the club properly instead of the half-assed jobs we have done in the past. Get our brand out there into the general public selling our young list and bright future. Also continue to invest in youth by not trading our draft picks.

Most disapointing thing about 06- the way we finished in the syd game and for Marc Murphy getting injured and not rightfully claiming the NAB Rising star award because of it .And the actions and carry-on from our PATHETIC BOARD.

When Pagans contract has expired should he be replaced? I think he has 2 more , at the end of 2008 if he is on the edge of finals for the following year and the players support him , then yes. This is not his fault we are in this position , Its John Elliot and the current board are not helping


Who should succeed Whitnal as captain? Whitnall if returns to the pre-season training in good condition , give it to him then go for Murphy

When should Whitnal step down as captain? 2 seasons at most

FINAL THOUGHTS- 1/The board need to get their act together or get out .
2/Keep playing the young guys but be open to recruiting players in their mid 20's but not the cost of early picks
3/For the media to stop running to John Elliot for a running commentary on the club's problems because we all know who is responsible .
4/ The quicker the board gets it act together and we start winning matches again , our money problems will ease. A young team full of stars and winning , will attract prime time tv , sponsors and crowds..

Biggest concern ON-FIELD If we get Gibbs , which we should because u go for the best player in the draft, our midfield will be good .
Except we will lack 2 things ,a ruckman and the biggest problem a lack of tall defenders . These are the 2 things which will hold us back for a while on field and apart from the bitching off field

Players with a ???????? Waite and Fisher its time to stand up and get rid of the word potential , that is stamped on you 2 and start producing week in and week out

FINAL THOUGHTS- Need to get our midfield in place which means at least 2 more midfielders and a top Ruckman either Leuenburger this year or Kreuser next year, everything else can be built around that. The development of the O'Halpin brothers into the most versatile bigmen in the competition, playing back, forward, ruck and midfield ala Adam Goodes, these 2 could well be the key to future Premiership success mark my words.

Biggest surprise- The continued development of our young kids

Most exciting carlton player- Walker

Favourite carlton game- Our 2nd win vs Melbourne. Yes, the win against the Bombers, the draw, and the round 1 win vs the Dees were all good. Even the game vs the Eagles was very encouraging for 3 quarters. But our round 18 (??) win vs the Dees was our best. Down the bottom, playing a potential top 4 team at that stage, and leading from the beginning. We played VERY well.

Favourite non-carlton game- Elimination final-Bulldogs vs Pies. Was great to see the re-emergence of the Colliwobbles. Also great to see the Doggies get up.

Most disapointing thing about 06- The loss vs WCE. What a win that eould have been. Was shattered for ages. Also Murph's injury costing him the NRS and finishing off a great debut season.

Most disapointing carlton player of 06- Adam Hartlett-not his fault, injuries got him. Otherwise, Waite.

Best sign for the future of the CFC- Murphy, Walker, Simpson, Blackwell, Bentick, and hopefully Gibbs. *drools*

Worst sign for the future of the CFC-The board. Absolute disgrace. Also failing to thus far sign up the likes of Simpson, Fisher and Thornton.

When Pagans contract has expired should he be replaced? Yes, definitely. Very few of the players respect him.
If so, by who and why? Silvagni or another of the ex-Carlton greats. They know how to win, and can hopefully instill a winning mentality in the club.

Who should succeed Whitnal as captain? Murphy, Simpson or Walker. Split captains

When should Whitnal step down as captain? 3-when his body gives in.

FINAL THOUGHTS- We have been the laughing stock for too long, on and off the field, and it is time to clean up our act. Pagan must go ASAP, but we cannot afford to pay out his contract. Board must be reshaped. Playing list must be reviewed, but I think the basis of a solid team is there. No more recruitment of old hacks. We are the proudest, most successful club in the AFL, and deserve to be back up the top where we belong. A few more years of pain will see us have success for a long period of time. GO BLUES!

FINAL THOUGHTS- Just hope we don't waste any more picks. Get Gibbs, a ruckman (hopefully the Berger) and try to install some confidence. We need to learn how to win again. We set ourselves up and just can't seem to close the deal.
Oh!! and get Pratt to give us a few million.

When should Whitnal step down as captain? 3-4 years, Murph in 5-6 years

FINAL THOUGHTS- Would absolutely love to see continued improvement in the list, and NO MORE CLANGERS. They killed us this season.
