I’m going early here in the hope and expectation that we see EH for the first time at home on Sunday.

After a promising start to his draft year he unfortunately broke his leg and slipped down the draft order.

In an AFL.com mock draft he was considered worthy of pick 29 but fortunately slipped to us.

Up until this year he’d played 29 SANFL games for a respectable return of 40 goals. Given he’s been a developing tall, and in 2018 had a depleted midfield ahead of him, it’s a solid record.

Of course how can we forget his debut last year and THAT goal.

It’s not just about his pure stats, EH competes aggressively in the air and will always give a contest. He doesn’t give up on the ball once it hits the deck either.

Was outstanding last week and I’d encourage anyone to have a look at his third quarter especially - no goals but very influential in our run on.

So a toast to EH - 2 years of solid SANFL toil, an opportunity thoroughly deserved. Let’s hope they give him some time to settle and work his way to the level.

And if it’s not this week - he’s coming soon

The only players to consistently excel at SANFL level have been mids and Tom Doedee. Our forward line has always been a graveyard for talls. Harry Dear looked 10 times better in his JLT game than he did in the SANFL. I’m quietly confident this kid has a very good career ahead of him. But that’s really only based upon the Carlton game last year, I’ve seen SFA SANFL.

He’s certainly not a young Tex that’s carving up the SANFL. Doesn’t have the tricks Tex had in those early days.

He’s a bit more blue collar, works hard.

Interestingly he played his draft year and champs as a CHB, so has good agility. Very deft user of handball too.

This is a good summary
I just hope there is a way of getting him a run of games.

I too was impressed by the Carlton game last year, but haven’t seen any of his matches against other SANFL sides.

During that game he looked very good as a facilitator, lead up, then move the ball on quickly and intelligently.

Polar opposite of someone like Jenkins who at age 30 still seems confused when he receives the ball outside goalscoring range.

I didn’t see any blunt force pack crashing at all, although that doesn’t mean he’s incapable of doing it.

Sound about right or no?

Will look great in a Giants guernsey which is where he will end up after a spineless pretend footballer continues to get preference. He might get a run this week, but make no mistake, JJ is the preferred option.

Certainly capable hitting the packs, at SANFL level at least - remains to be seen if that translates.

I think rather than crashing into a formed pack, it’s more likely that he’s planted himself and a pack forms as he’s drawn a crowd - hope that makes sense. He’ll stand pretty tall and strong in that situation.

And yes he’s a very intelligent player

Not to say he's at this level, but he reminds me of Tom Richmond Lynch. Moves similar, works hard, isn't afraid to run and jump at the pill.

The only concern I do have is our delivery into the forwards has been woeful and it has contributed slightly to JJs poor return and most definitely to Tex's poor form.

If we can lift the efficiency going forward this kid has the talent to make things happen.

How many goals would he have to kick to ensure he isn't dropped immediately?

I'm thinking 8
Wrong question. You should be asking what Jenkins has to do to get back in. I'd say something along the lines of the DMac criteria.

Jenkins won't have to do anything. He's already locked in next week regardless.

The question is how well does Berg have to perform so he can't possibly be dropped. We'd look pretty silly dropping an 8 goal forward. But 4 goals? Probably not enough

Josh will have to perform, much like Gibbs did.

I know you're being cynical but he will need a very good performance to get back in.

I hope Himmel and Berg get the nod this arvo. We are crying out for some new blood and enthusiasm.
Tex needs to extract the digit and play a few good games in a row or just maybe he could find himself in the 2s.

I disagree, previous history with Jenkins is it tends to be a multi week stay in the SANFL when it does happen, seeing it usually takes him 2-3 weeks of SANFL to correct himself mentally, and get the confidence back.

No doubt Jenkins is preferred though.
