No, I don't advocate bringing Wiggo back. Normally I would have said a hard body in the midfield to bash around would be nice, but we've got Hadley for that now.

Wiggo needs another string to his bow or it is curtains for him. A few bags in the Bullants would be nice though...

for 187 cm's and a relatively reliable and strong mark he should be given a chance at FF, allowing fev to go to CHF (he was good there at one stage a few years ago). I mean we are really desperate for any guy to help out in the forward line.. it would be nice to see resting ruckman, e.g cloke or hampson down there as well as kreuzeur who should play the whole year there.

Couldn't see a reason not to try him out.. You got my vote wiggo!

Its no secret Pagan F***ed his chances at AFL with his ancient coaching techniques, and never seriously gave him a fair dinkum crack during any games. The more I think about it, the more he was used as a scape goat.

He's only 25 and has a smart footy brain and has good all round skills. I just hope he gets one chance under Ratten, and if he doesn't measure up, then I will be the first to say DELIST.

:thumbsu:Wiggins should be given a chance this year or other wise why didn't the club delist him last year. I like his attack on the ball and we need a few more older players to balance our team as our young boys run out of legs.

Strangely enough, I agree.

We need another string to our bow up forward as we are too one dimensional ATM.

Wiggins is a fantastic strong mark for his size and would beat most small forwards he is matched up on in a 1 on 1 marking contest.

He could really be a useful decoy forward at either FF or in the forward pocket and chip in for a few goals.

It's worth a try. Give it a few weeks and if it isn't working then explore another option. But it can't really hurt to try.

I think he still had this year of his contract to run so thats why he wasnt delisted??

Whilst he has a lot of faults (like a lot on our list) he will always give you a genuine contest. He would be handy in a stronger team but l think his chances are limited this year of playing senior footy. He may be stranded on 89 games.

One thing for sure is that he passionate about the jumper and would do anything for it which is not what I can say about some of his team mates.

I know Wiggo doesn't get much support here, but he probably is worth a try, and IMO as a forward pocket, leading forward.

if people can remember back to the game against WC in 2006 at Subi, he cause havoc in the first guarter from memory, his leading and marking was great, and he kicked a few as well.

He is hard at it, he is pretty so he doesn't care about getting smashed up a bit...something that we lack a little is the hardness at the ball and the man.

Give him a go, if he fails, send him back to his wife in the pool!!

He looked pretty good when he was playing in the forward for a couple of games last year, so yes I would like to see him back into the seniors side.

Wiggo's effort is always spot-on but he's always looked to me as though he's just a bit outta his depth at AFL level.

A bit Simon beaumont-esque - he'll be going ok and we'll be going ok and then he'll be in a situation where he needs to do something at a relatively high skill level and he'll stuff it up instead and the other mob kicks a goal. And then a bit later the contest is over.

To those of you who'd like to bring him back in - who do you drop for him ?

Russell.

OK well that's no real surprise. You could make an argument either way i guess, but right now my view is that dropping Russell after he's been in the side for one game and played as good a game as he's played for us would do no good for his confidence/belief or general development. If you watched the game closely JR applied a lot of defensive pressure in our forward half against the saints, and i thought his leading, marking and foot passing were the best they've been. So dropping him after that would be no good from a player management point of view.

And on top of that, JR's game was better than i think wiggo would produce.

Wiggins had a massive game for the Bullants on the weekend, by all accounts got them over the line by himself!

Don't be surprised if you see him in the team this week!!!!!

You heard it here first!

I was just looking for a wiggo thread to post the same thing really.
I hope he does get a look in, in the place of Russell.

prediction:

IN: Setanta, (to play on Rocca)
Wiggins, (close to BOG from the Ants)

Hartlett (back from suspension)
OUT: Scotland (poor performance and attitude),
Russell (just plain sh1t),

Hampson
(faded off in the 4th quarter and probably needs to up the confidence in the Ants)
