The Cairns Game

Hey Tiges,

Just wondering if any of you guys are heading up for the Suns/Rich game in Cairns, or are up that a-ways? Anyone know of any good hotels or anything to stay at? Was thinking of heading up myself!

Looking forward to the match. Hoping it will be a competitive one.

Well I'll bite.

Yes I am attending. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn. A fine establishment close to the water and good restaurants. I am looking forward to the match, and I believe we'll be very competitive.

Me and a couple of mates are planning on going up but after booking our flights with Tiger we are unsure what is going on. On Uni holidays and staying for 5 nights up there.. hopefully.

It was fairly ironic that tiger was grounded on Saturday and then we saw that debacle later in the day.
Not a good day for tiger.

Thread title caught my way. I recommend staying somewhere around Palm Cove if you can, it's a beautiful beachside town with some great restaurants and shops. It's about a half hour's drive north of Cairns but it's worth it.

Hey Tiger fans,
The North Cairns Tigers are hosting a couple of events over the weekend of the Tigers/Suns game. Our home ground, named Watsons Oval, about 5 minute drive from Cazalys and about 10 to the city, is hosting the pre game function. Hosted by Flea, with Disco Roach and Jimmy Jess as guests and also a current assistant coach, it promises to be a nice warm up to the big game Saturday arv. Then if you haven't had enough footy, we have a big family day at the club on Sunday. Juniors kick off about 9am all day until our senior side kicks off at 3.
Our side is in a very similar spot to the your boys; been down for a while, but have got a good young coach guiding a very young side and showing good signs of improvement. We take on the defending premiers, who beat us by 150pts in r1 and 40pts in r2 so hopefully we can get a bit closer again. Would be great to see a bit of extra yellow and black down there, hopefully celebrating a win from the day before. Cheers

Let me guess, you know the area well?

There's a function the night before/night of up there that Flea is hosting with Michael Roach, players will be out and about, while traveling may not be great, we certainly take over the places we play and give it a Richmond feel.
