He is actually the type of player we need right now to replace one of burns,bucks or maybe even licca. Thats obvious, however i can understand why everyone is disagreeing. Egan could be anything, we just goto hope he can live up to his potential and take another step this year. If he does this thread is null and void. I do wish we got lewis too, damn he is going to be a ripper hardnut, morrison was a mistake, taking egan over lewis, at the moment is looking like a bad decision, that will hopefully change in the next 18-22 weeks. But where does that leave the other fp/hffers Dicky, Medders Super Neon, Wellingham, cook plus a few others we have on this list ? we cannot possibly play them all, really 1-3 max would only be needed right?

Oh and here's another boring stat... of the top 35 players averaging the highest disposals in the league Lewis is by far the youngest (several years) and sitting in 7th spot above the likes of Judd and Black in a team that has Mitchell, Hodge and Crawford taking possessions away from him

Yes, his stats are excellent, no doubt about that. However, I would have to question how damaging those stats are. He doesn't kick goals (1 every 6 games) His 73% disposal effectiveness last year was only slightly higher than O'bree (70.6) and Licuria (72.5), slightly lower than Johnson (76.5) and Swan (76.5), and significantly lower than Rhyce Shaw (82.4).

Also, I think players like Mitchell, Hodge and Crawford tend to increase each others stats, rather than take them away from each other.

It seems to me that the recruiters identified Lewis as a similar player to those we already had. They would have probably taken Egan at pick 7 anyway, as he had a bit more pace and skill, something we have clearly lacked over the years.

I also clearly remember Chris Egan being touted as a first round pick. But I don't like bagging the recruiters when they don't draft someone the herald sun told them to.

I'm not knocking you, or Jordan Lewis, but I still think the Egan decision may be vindicated yet.

I've seen him in all 3 games, (yes I have Foxtel and no life) the guy is deadly accurate, fantastic disposal from last year... I hope the best for Egan as well but we already have too many of his type and there is just no way he will improve to the extent Lewis has... Lewis is now one of the premier in and under midfielders in the league... just what we needed
