Just thought I would ask who you rowdy lot thought would be the big improvers this year? The cream that make the difference.

I will ask that instead of just saying for example "the brock" please mention who he/they will replace and how that will benefit us.

There seems to have been a lot of talk about this but no-one is willing to say who needs to be replaced from the 22.

Oh and bushie, I didn't mean to excite you or the goats with the title:D

IMO the likes of McManus and M. Carr will be replaced in 2008 by Foster, O'Brien and Ibbotson.

If Farmer can get back to the form of the end of 2006, then we will win more games for sure.

Schammer and Peake should be much better than they were in 2007, if they can stay injury free.

Warnock and Gilmore will continue to improve given the opportunity. I think we all rate Warnock as a prospect but Gilmore could be anything. He could be a dud after all, or he could really blossom into a required player.

X factors include Murphy, Drum, Dunn, Browne and Campbell. Will these guys play, and will they be any good? Time will tell.

I think we've seen the last of Walker (I hope).

There is a LOT of upside to our list. It just depends whether the squad can click ala Geelong 2007. It could happen.

I would expect andrew foster to cement his position, robert warnock will play every game if he doesnt get injured. i think brock obrien will play between ten and fifteen games.

peak and schammer will play every game if not injured, i think crowley went into the season without a preseason, so i expect more from him this year. hopefully paul hasleby can get fit seeing as we didnt trade him, we need him to lift.

i think tarrant will kick between 45 and 60 goals next year, because apparently he has been working hard on his kicking, so that will make a big difference.

the biggest improvement though IMO, and that is if he can be bothered to work hard, will be ryan murphy if he can get his confidence up early, with farmer playing, taz and pav, i cant think of a defence that could stop them, especially if belly plays more forward. that is where our biggest improvement will come from

Yes but who will they replace? Murphy? Foster - cook schammer plays most games again who does he replace? crowley the same (although he was in the team)

I suppose I just think there will be some harsh decisions this year. Just wondering which players will lose spots.

I hope dunn gets a go, but again the question is... at the expense of whom.

Also the Geelong comparision scares me a bit. They where a top four side three of four years prior to 06.

You can't ask us NOT to mention "Brock Norris" if you want people's opinions on X-Factors for season 2008. Brock can replace the entire universe.
Brock does ask for permission, he grants it.
Warnock, Foster.. and possibly Smith, and perhaps the number 7 draft pick to all be X-Factors... a fit Schammer, & Peake should be very beneficial as well. Heath Black supported by a quicker midfield to delivery his pin point kicks in even greater quantity. NO reason why Bells superior twilight career form shouldn't be considered an X-factor as well.

"he does ask for permission and also grants it! thats either one great brock or one confused brock!

But again mr fury who would he replace? At what point do we bench belly to play a younger player?

Hmmmmm... I don't actually foresee too many changes for your boys.... Manus out and a new young in - but I do think there will be drastic improvements across the board.... Tell ya the truth, would be more worried about you in 08 than I was in 07...

Could be like Geelong's 06-07 seasons....

everyone seems to be saying 'with schammer and peake fit everything will be better etc.'

this is all well and good, but what happens if they get injured again? or maybe something worse happens like pav goes down. u never get an injury free season so i think pinningour hopes on the return to fitness of two or 3 players is a little naive..

well... maybe he can fight his way into the first 22 with good form. Who is can replace is up to injuries, suspension or Harves....

Brock isn't confused BTW... Search for and check out The Brock thread to see his abilities, which in themselves should warrant selection.

Not sure we bench Belly at all with the form he was in. If it contnues I'd let him have as much game time as possible. If we wanted to manage him to keep him more "vital" and effective, we could rest him for some away trips to keep him fresh, or rest him from some home games. He does seem to have much fuel in the tank and dosent need to have that Buckley treatment as of yet. However, veterans tend to loose form very quickly when it becomes obvious there body can't hack it anymore and the game starts passing them by. Belly would retire the moment that happens IMHO.Still, he could very well be an important X factor if we make the finals in 08.... the little champion can still hurt sides with a burst of damage

Mcmanus will be out
Think gilmore will fall in a heap and will lose his place
matt carr may struggle to get a gig, in fact has he even re-signed yet?
guys like webster wont even get a look in let alone a couple of games
so there is atleast three players, but your right, it should be tough competition for spots this year

Impossible. Too much talent on the list. It will be a week by week situaton of who is in form and who isn't.

Those that are likely to have the chance of coming in are:

O'Brien
Foster
Ibbotson
Browne
Drum
Campbell
Duffield
Murphy

Those that are likely to be dropped at some stage:

M.Carr
McManus
Mundy

Not really anyone else at this point in time.

well i'm going for hase
he said last week this'll be his first year for about three years that he's uninjured & therefore able to do a full pre-season - a slim fully fit hase in the midfield with that brain & those hands

just as long as he doesn't eat the cream

a fully fit, COMMITTED! hase would be good, even at half forward, especially if foster ibbo obrien and pick 7 (insert masten, palmer or morton) come along. belly staying on helps a lot too

We are now in a popsition where there will be 2 or more players vying for the same position. A very good thing for us finally.

I think the best 22/28 will be along these lines.

FF: Farmer Tarrant Murphy/Campbell
HF: Bell Pav Gilmore/Headland
C: Black Haselby Peake
HB: Mundy/Thornton McPharlin Dodd
FB: Hayden Grover Johnson
R: Sandilands JCarr Solomon/Crowley
INT: Warnock Schammer/Foster MCarr/Obrien McManus/Pick 7

There a lots of players that can be put under pressure by players just outside the 22. And Harvs will have no probs letting them know it.
