I'm annoyed that more games aren't on free to air. Starc is amazing.

And yes, Maxy has really taken it up a level.

I gotta wonder whether KP's leadership when he batted with Maxwell in that T20 and helped steer him through that bad patch helped him turn the corner. Delicious if it did.
Reckon Pietersen is feeling happy about a few things right now

South Africa entrench their reputations as the worlds biggest chokers. Thrilling match though!

It was a great match. I like watching this NZ team play. The shield final is also well and truly alive, looking forward to the outcome there.

I feel for the South Africans after that rain delay though. They were motoring with huge momentum behind 'em.

The Sth Africans can blame the ICC for scheduling a major world cricketing event around a change in season. Having the world cup straddle the equinox was and always will be a bloody stupid idea unless it's held on the equator.

Always unpredictable weather at this time of year.

A few crecking a sux peck or two in Ocklund.

Wanna Bet?

You could use ut to hut the cruckit ball. Thin you could hev a bit on the game end wun a few dollars
.

Good win by the Aussies for cup #5.

Huge respect for the Kiwis in how they played throughout the tourney. Just couldn't put it together on the day. Really good side.

Not sure why Haddin et al have to mouth off. He needs to show some humility and respect for opponents.

warnie wants to know how much beer you're all having to celebrate.

Will you be having lots and lots of beer? How much beer will you have? Jeez, how good is it to drink lots of beer? Will you all be drinking beer for a long, long time? I mean, a really, really long time just drinking lots of beer? Is that what you'll be doing? It's what Warnie will be doing! Beer!

For someone who is quite intelligent when discussing all things cricket-related (and maybe poker), he really says and does some dumb things.

That said, I wonder how much effect Warne's slagging of Starc had on him winning the payer of the tournament award.

Oh, and I will be having lots of beer.

Warnes commentary is getting worse and worse by the day. He's turning into another Michael slater/Ian Healy.

I don't think starcs White ball bowling was ever really under question, he was always a very good one day bowler. He just struggles with the rigours of test cricket and the lack of swing he gets with the red ball.

I still think with some more maturity and coaching he can start to have a greater impact at test level

Yeah, I have a lot of time for Starc. I think it was Craig McDermott that once said Starc will be a star of the future.

Thought the final was a bit like the grand final. For all the talk about NZ being in the match with like 30 overs gone, I thought it was fairly much settled early on. The pressure and entire team effort was exemplary.

It was virtually over after a few balls with McCullum going for a blob. Shut shot thet !

I'm not so sure that was the case. At 3/150 in the 35th over coming into the powerplay they were still on track for a score of around 300. Starc & Faulkner bowled brilliantly in that 5 over spell & really broke the back of the Kiwis then.

As an aside, can anyone else remember a time when we've had 3 left arm fast bowlers in the Australian team? That's a tactic which was brilliant.

Thing is I couldn't see either batsmen carting us around. They did well to get there, but for mine were always playing a bit of catch-up. Our bowling and intensity was just brilliant.

Elliot's not a slogger & Clarke placing himself at slip when he was on strike was a great tactical move. Taylor, on past form, could have increased the scoring rate & Anderson is quite the hitter - the ball that got him was an absolute peach, admittedly we were using the shadows over the pitch to our advantage.

Didn't notice the 'close the rough' brigade chirp on about the shadows. Must be just part of the game ;)

Very solid effort in the field knocking WIndies over for 148 on a very slow wicket. Think they lost 9/80 odd after a good start. Some excellent catching made the difference. Shaun Marsh is batting for his spot in the side - so will need to follow up on his ton in the recent tour match.

Sadly Marsh didn't quite get the result he was after. Hoping voges does well after a sterling few seasons in FC

Why did they pick Voges ahead of Burns? Voges has been incredible at FC last couple of years but at 35 he has about 12 months of cricket left in him if he is actually even good enough (no guarantee as Sheild cricket is a step down) where as Burns is the future and he scored two half centuries in his last test match and a match winning 135* in his last shield match. Why not stick with him?

It's a good question. Liked burns. However, why bother having a second tier comp where players play to win a baggy green, and not reward the blokes who makes the most with one?
Plus, he's been good for many years. Voges does deserve his chance
