Which bright spark decided not to schedule any serious cricket on the Aus Day weekend? Two x T20's really doesn't cut it.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, as I'm only a couple of weeks short of a mid-30s birthday, but I can remember the day when there was a test match in Adelaide around Australia day.

T20 cricket doesn't count.

How's the Aussie bowlers? They watch the Sri Lankans getting the ball up in the blockhole and what do our idiots do? Pound the ball in short. Whoever is coaching our pacemen should be sacked.

That would be Ali de Winter, would it not?

Still not sure why the Aussies decided to turn down Waqar to replace McDermott.

The most important thing McDermott did was change their length. They were noticeably fuller against India.

Just got back from my local cricket club. For some reason, they decided to celebrate Australia Day with a T20 game, and my word ..... I've never seen such crap.

What is it about T20 that batsmen seem totally unable to hit a ball along the ground? Heads in the air, they either hit catches or miss altogether and get bowled by a straight one. All day, balls and bails flying in the air, it was so mind numbingly boring I left before the end.

I am so glad I never had to play that rubbish. I prefer cricket.

Funny isn't it. Strangely, many of the better t20 batsman are good allround batsman who play legitimate shots, and rarely slog.

Get used to it though,, this us the future of cricket mate.

You think? It's been mooted as that, but I wonder if, like the Beta Video Player, things mightn't work out that way when there's a clear choice in front of people.

Have a look at the crowd numbers for the international games and the BBL compared to the ODI games.

Test cricket will always be number 1 in this country, purely as it's the way it's always been and true cricket fans know this is the biggest test. It then comes down to number 2, and T20 is taking over. Kids love it, woman love it, it's fast, fun and over in 3 hours ish. It suits families.

Personally, i don;t mind ODIs, and T20 has it's place. For me, Test cricket is where it is at, and I love following the Shield, but you can see that the T20 juggernaut is not going to stop.

We already have a game that lasts 3 hours, is played under lights in coloured clothing, where people hit the ball in the air all the time and the only hightlight is the fielding. It's called baseball. Cricket is catering for people who couldn't give a stuff about the game, all they want to do is wear stupid costumes and behave like idiots.

The alarm bells should be ringing for cricket authorities that our over-emphasis on this type of activity is not producing world class cricketers, and for a few quick fix $$$$$$$ they are chosing to ignore the warnings.

We are in late January, it should be the peak of the cricketing summer, all we are getting is T20 crap.

Hey I don't disagree with you, but facts are facts and people attend T20 more than ODIs and test for that matter. It's more than a few $$$$ it's big dollars. They look to find new viewers, and T20 is the answer. It's naive to think CA or any other cricket authority will ignore it, cause it's all about money and media share, and T20 is what gets it.'

To me, T20 is like the half time entertainment, overall pointless in the overall scheme of things in terms of actual sport, outside of the fact it encourages the $$$$ to keep the real purposes going

George Bailey has won the toss and Ch9 has told him Sri Lanka will bat to ensure no one switches stations like last time.

Should they just get Mark Nicholas to select at the toss?

Gee, Maxwell is nominally an off spinner, yet he's pitching them on or outside leg stump.

He has managed to keep it tight though.

X is a good ODI and T20 bowler

Check out this brilliant flipper from Warne. And the way he's set him up for the length. Benaud knew what he was doing from the commentary box.

X could do ok in India. He's quite tidy with how he balls.
If we are going to go down the two spinner route, I would like X to be given another crack

Apart from that 6 just then, Sri Lanka havent really shown any intent and interest in scoring

It seems that until he did his shoulder recently Beer was on the plane to India.

Maxwell can't be taken as 'the second spinner'.

'Trainee allrounder' to indulge the selectors, but not second spinner.

Bill Lawry is losing the plot aswell...

Just thought Jayawardena was out, then he thought it was just outswing past the bat, when infact he edged it and it landed about 3 metres short of Wade...
