Finn is match fixing here surely
Man of the match for the Aussies at this rate. Absolutely dreadful!
Starting to get excited...loved watching us chase from 72 to 30 but then it dried up. Genuine laughs if we pull this one off

Definitely a noise, but hot spot inconclusive. Totally bemusing application throughout the test.

Lucky to get as close as we did so can't be too disappointed.

Great debut by Agar, and hopefully the last we'll see of Cowan in the baggy green.

Yeah he definately hit it

Need to replace Cowan. Usman gets an opportunity?

Agar a big positive and I would also say Hughes and Smith both showed some signs.

Rogers could be handy at this level for a few years also

Overturned on inconclusive evidence... yep, the system is working beautifully.

Obviously out. But was hoping it wasn't called and the ledger would be squared for the horrible call where Broad should have gone out.

Please bring in Warner.

Surely it's time for Special K

Evidence was clear. The edge was faint but was no less an edge for it. This wasn't one we need to complain about. We have some rights to feel aggrieved overall but not for this one.

Well, it does actually. My feelings of annoyance are cumulative and reach a point with this decision.

You have a marginal call really, that required much shuffling through the pictures, and it was eventually overturned. They made the case.

But, you can have the insane variable LBW calls, a blatant edge that can't be reviewed, and so it goes.

My points: it irks me that DRS can be used, and a case built, and a batsman dismissed on something that was marginal.

All of the botched implementation aside, DRS has brought an unwanted tactical addition to the game. Hearing people say Engalnd won because of how they used their DRS makes me sick. It's a sickeningly true statement which, in my opinion, has no place in cricket.

Agree fully with this part and most of your post.

Don't agree with the marginal call re: Haddin though. It was out. It was the right decision. It's just annoying they got this one right on the back of screwing us for a few days

Marginal being if it was just the umpires decision you wouldn't blame him if he got it wrong.

Footy's just the same. You bring in concepts that can be a real benefit to the game, i.e. interchange, and all coaches do is determine how to use it as a tactic. It's just pathetic.

Amen Sister.

DRS should be there for the howlers, the shockers, the obvious ones. We still have these, due to captains either being to stupid to use the system properly or the technology guestimating things to within an inch of it's life. The Broad dismissal shows this Clarke refers an iffy LBW on the hope it would get overturned, and missed out on it. Then we see a shocker not given out. Clarke's fault? Umpires fault? DRS's fault?? Probably all 3.

If the system is to work, the ICC have to spend the money to implement the system themselves and not rely on the broadcast networks to do that for them (even in India). It should be completely independant of the Networks, it should in control of the 3rd umpire solely, not the players are all, and be there to pull up the bad ones. In the case of Agar/Broad, ump gives it not out, 3rd umpire looks at it himself, radios down, "Aleem ya f$%kwit, that was clear as day out ya twat, put the pointy digit up now". Dar puts his finger up and the game moves on as it should.

LBW's, well the 3rd umpire gets a look at where it pitches and a slow mo of the ball, and makes his own decision as though he was out in the middle.

Crisis averted.

Isn't Warner being sent on safari to get Aus A batting practice against the fearsome Zimbabwe attack ?

Send Cowan instead.

We don't seem to able to win the close ones. In fact, I'm struggling to remember many close ones we've won. The mind immediately goes to WI in Adelaide (lost by 1 run) & screams past games when we've lost by 2 runs, 3 runs, 5 runs, 10 runs, 1 wicket, 2 wickets etc etc.

I remember Thommo getting us over the line against India in 1977, but I can't remember too many other tight ones we've won.

Can anybody refresh my memory, or are we just good at comprehensive wins?
