I can understand the field umpire giving it out, with Prior claiming the catch and rushing down the wicket as though Khawaja had thick-edged it. But the third umpire, having seen all the replays a million times, has made a complete and utter balls-up of the decision.

Khawaja has every right to do a Clarko in the dressing rooms.

ETA - Dharmasena is the third umpire. He's a rubbish umpire, so it's unsurprising that he ballsed up another decision.

What has the DRS umpire been drinking? I'm speechless. His bat hit his pad. There was nothing on snicko, nothing on hotspot. Daylight between bat and ball. The longer the test series goes, the worse these DRS decisions become.

Why should the umpires decision stand if it's referred and there's doubt?

Once it's referred the umpire's decision should be irrelevant. And all doubt should go to the batsman.

It's ridiculous that that decision can be upheld/whatever.

Still very correct with his footwork, left elbow and full face. Great eye compensates for the gap

Yeah, so long as everything is spot on at the point of impact, the rest doesn't really matter.
Maybe Watson needs to take a leaf out of Clarke's book and worry more about finding the middle of the bat. It's kind of like he's batting in front of a mirror.
