It's asking if supporters want the Bombers to recruit Cousins.

Please all vote NO, he will be 31 at the start of the season, has drug/drink problems & a dodgy hammy, plus he will want to be paid too much.

Our club is heading in the right direction, we don't want to go back to recruiting old players, thinking they will help us win a flag sooner, that's what got us in this mess in the first place.

Yes because how we vote will effect the recruiting department.....

Maybe it will, if they think there will be a big baklash against the club for recruiting him, then they might listen, after all, it's the supporters who keep the club strong.

Why do you think they started the poll, if they weren't interested in the supporters views?

Mantis, while I respect your opinion, you should respect other people and let them have their own opinion. I realise u just want the club to keep going forward but some people think Cousins may play a part in that

While ignoring the downside to getting Cousins, the people saying yes, aren't saying why he will benefit our club, if you are voting yes, say why.

I didn't say why I voted yes on the club website. So I will say it here

From a purely footballing aspect, I believe Cousins is as good as it gets. He had (and we don't know where he is at now) great skill, awareness and fitness. If he is as good as he was or even half as good he will help out our midfield immensely and give the younger players confidence which will see them raise their output aswell. He will help supply our strong forward line and hopefully help with the defensive aspect of the midfield, limiting the ball going into our backline.

If he is not as good still, then he is still an asset at training as far as workrate and professionalism goes. If he isn't good enough to get a game (which i highly doubt) then he can atleast help the younger and even more experienced guys train harder.

That is all my opinion of course and i respect people who think he would be inappropriate at our club.

Thankyou for explaining your reasons for, most don't, they just see the name & go WOW we want him. :thumbsu:

I agree with you training wise he would be great, but the downside is his partying & his attitude of FU, I am Ben Cousins I can do as I please, I really don't want that attitude coming to our club, look how he destryed WC, Premiers 2 years ago & now a rabble.

So please think about the downside of getting him.

Mantis, i believe you are looking too much at the downside at not enough at the fact he is a premiership player and a brownlow winner.

He is a hard worker and hopefully will get off the pills

Already voted yes :thumbsu:

Legend.:thumbsu:

Mantis, I respect your right to an opinion, but you're wrong.:p

Seriously though, I can see both sides to this, and I think the professionalism and sheer awesomeness of his footballing ability makes it worthwhile.

I'm with you Mantis. I don't want to waste a pick on him. I know he is a gun footballer, but lets look at the long term. If we pick him up, it goes against our youth policy and will make Knights look very silly indeed. We are behind the eightball anyway, and a kid could be playing in his place who would give us 8 extra years, whereas Cousins would retire and leave us in the lurch.

As for the developement of our youngsters, we have Spike to help the kids along. Not to mention thats why we employ coaches.

mantis - always respect your posting ... but

The idea of BF is to let people have an opinion.. so let em have it

I voted NO for you Mantis. You are the boss after all.

Anything else you want done? doesn't have to be legal!!!

No for me. It would be a step backwards getting Cousins. He will be 31 next year and we are not close enough to flag contention to be recruiting older players who would give us a max of 2 to 3 years.

By the time we are in contention, I think he will be too old to have much of an impact on the field.

And I don't get this "he could bring professionalism to the club in terms of training and teach our youngsters a thing or two" argument. How ridiculous! He is a druggy with a poor reputation, and therefore would be a poor influence on the youngsters.

If the professional trainer aspect is a reason he should be recruited then we shouldn't have moved Pev on, as that bloke is about as professional and dedicated as they come!

Cousins has the added bonus of being good at football.

No .

Cousins has admitted he doesn't know if he will relapse or not.

The Bombers need stability not instability.

So the youngsters can learn about the professionalism needed for high fitness because Cousins is a better player?

No, but if the choice was between the two "professional trainers", I'd take the better footballer without thinking.
