3 out of 3 reviews i have read said that Heath Ledger desrves a posthumous Oscar..

Hopefully he REALLY is that good.

Heath was ****ing amazing. He is GUARANTEED an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, absolutely guaranteed, and if it were up to me, he'd win it easy. That was one of the best performances I have ever seen

Talk about a cast that has some of my favourite actors: Bale, Gyllenhaal, Oldman.

Only Hellboy II: The Golden Army could top this.
This was one of the previews. How awesome did that look :thumbsu:

There are critics saying Ledger could even rival Brando in the Godfather.
I would have laughed at that in the past.
But what are your thoughts to those who have seen The Joker in this movie???

It'd be very cclose.

if you didnt know it was ledger there is no way you'd pick it. He got the character perfect and had a good script to work with. Just this twisted psychotic edge to everything he said and how he moved.

the month he spent locked away working on the character really paid off big time IMO! :thumbsu:

I've heard a couple of people go down this path, but they need to be reminded that there was plenty of awesome buzz about this performance well before Ledger died.

I remember showing Mum the trailer, telling her he'd win an Oscar. 12 hours later he was dead.

The reason Ledger's performance is getting such massive wraps, is that if you didn't know it was Heath Ledger playing the role, you'd struggle to pick it straight away.

All the mannerisms, the voice, the laughter, the mood swings, the licking of the lips - being motivated by nothing by a desire to cause chaos and anarchy.

He nailed it.

Eckhart was almost as good - but the character doesn't give the same scope for a massive performance.

Everything there is spot on.

It's the first time I've seen a film with Ledger in it since his death and I thought I'd spend a bit of time thinking more about him as a person and his death than concentrating on the movie. But what I was watching didn't have a single semblance of Heath Ledger about it. It was an entirely different beast. It was....The Joker.

Saw the movie on Wednesday and thought I would wait to post, just to see if it was my massive hype clouding my judgement, but **** NO!

This movie was AWESOME, 2.5 hours and needing a piss for the last hour of the movie, but I could not move from my seat if I tried, every scene was something to marvel at.

Ledger was phenomenal, I don't think I have ever seen a movie villan before and just hoped that he wouldn't die in it so he could be in a sequel, it is just the worst thing that he can't be in the sequel no matter what now, if Ledger doesn't at least get the OSCAR nomination then they have ****ed it up, this movie would certainly fit into the structure of movies that can be nominated, it way different to what I had expected from the movie, and was as far away from a superhero movie as possible, I know it should have been but this was just an amazing peice of art, I have never been so immersed into a movie like this before, every death, every scene had major impact on me.

To those who think the Ledger death hype is what drives the OSCAR talk, then you need to watch this movie properly.

Also Bale was so solid, Ledger's immersion in his Joker really does take away from Bale a bit, but there is alot to be seen in Bale's performance to, and could very well nab him a nomination come OSCAR time.

Eckhart was really good too, I loved the look of two face, I am not sure how it was done, whether make-up or CGI, but it was scary as hell and a far better move from the Tommy Lee-Jones shit from Batman Forever.

The only person I didn't particularly like was Gyllenhall, didn't think she suited the Rachel Dawes role very well and didn't come across as a lawer type to me, Katie Holmes was far better.

Would really love to see where the movies will go after that ending too.

It'd be damn close. You're not watching Heath Ledger as The Joker. You're just watching The Joker. He embodies and becomes the character in a way rarely seen. It's amazing.

For anyone yet to see the film, there is nothing to wait for during or after the credits, unlike say What Happens In Vegas, where you should hang around.

Fantastic movie.
The writer's did a great job with the storyline, it was brilliant...leaves things set up interestingly for the next movie.
As everyone has said before Ledger was incredible, totally immersed himself in the joker.
Bale is the best Batman there has ever been.
And i've never been a big fan of Eckhart but he really impressed me with his performance in this movie.

Loved Eckhart in 'Thank you for Smoking' - he's a classic

The next movie should feature Jonah Hill as the Penguin.

IS the pun included?

If only they could put a movie together as awesome as DC have done with this absolute ripper. IT was so well planned/thought out and the acting was brilliant.

HOLY SHIT!!!

If Heath Does not win an Oscar for best supporting than the whole damm acadamy is Rigged, everything about that movie was great, Just go and see it :thumbsu:

Yeah Hellboy II is going to be great, might not be better than TDK in the long run, but it should match and even surpass the first Hellboy movie :D. Just on a grand scale, we've had a kickarse year of movies (especially with Superheroes). It seems silly being that it has only just come out, but i'm already looking forward to buying the dvd :p, i hope it is released and delivers it's full potential (i'd love to see lots of features, but Warner Bros. arn't known for giving out spectacular extras... unless its a large box set like the Ultimate Superman Collection or The Matrix box set).

If they had features behind the making of the internet campaign, or even just all of teasers and long trailers they put out, i'd be a happy camper. I just hope there is a bit more variety, i wasn't overly thrilled with what was on the Batman Begins dvd.

** About the soundtrack** (i'm lazy and can't be bothered doing another quote box lol), i didn't think to look for it once i saw the movie. I thought it wasn't coming out here until next week. But i'll be looking for it tomorrow, loved the themes playing throughout :thumbsu:

LOL, it was unintentional, but also a conscious use of the word.;)

Tip for those yet to see the movie: HAVE A PISS BEFOREHAND!

Regarding the movie itself, Ledger was great as the Joker, absolutely nailed the role. Should at least get a nomination and wouldn't be surprised to see him win if he does. I see others really rate Bale as Batman but he was ok for mine, just seemed like it was Batman by the numbers for me. Perhaps he just suffers from the quality of Ledgers performance. Eckhart was better IMO, played his role well especially after becoming Two Face.
