Movie The Dark Knight

Couple of Joker quotes that I loved;

Do I look like I have a plan? I don't have a plan. The mob has plans, the cops have plans. You know what I am, Harvey? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do if I caught one. I just do things.

This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.

And, forgetting the real life tragedy of Ledger's death, it's also a tragedy for the movies;

I get the feeling that you and I are destined to do this forever!

Imagine the absolutely epic, incredible battles that The Joker and Batman could have had over the years. As The Joker said, Batman completed him - Batman was the one person who always refused to bow to the Joker; the only person that The Joker could not corrupt - and the Joker loved him for it.

There are a few good things in this film but Ledger is clearly the reason for people to go see this. He is outstanding, and someone I never particularly liked as an actor, but wow, he is barely recognisable in this.

The movie is perhaps a little too long. Towards the end there is too much happening and I found myself drifting off.

Christian Bale's 'Batman voice' I find extremely irritating. For me, Michael Keaton was easily the bst Batman and the '89 version is still the best in my books.

Saw it today and loved it, as for the criticisms of the Dent transformation, the last phone call before you know what and Rachel's letter pretty much sums up the connection between the two and his subsequent madness, without turning it into a three hour film I don't see how much more could have been done.

Ledger was awesome was a bit creepy seeing him on the screen though.

I actually wouldn't mind them taking a break for a good few years now before a third one to get it done right. We all know the studio will be pushing for it but I hope Nolan/Bale hold out so its done right.

I generally agree, though I'd place more blame with Christopher Nolan and his post sound crew than Bale. The Batman voice was absurdly, inhumanly low, and definitely down to some overdone digital tinkering.

It'll be funny when the movie comes out on Blu-Ray... If I turn my subwoofer off, I reckon Batman will have no dialogue.

For me, Michael Keaton was easily the bst Batman and the '89 version is still the best in my books.

Um, no.

Um, yes. :) You don't take differing opinions well do you

Not when they're silly.

Don't get me wrong, I like Burton's Batman movies, but let's be serious here: Nolan's make them look campier than the TV series.

And if you were going to claim that one of the Burton ones was the best, you should at least have cited Batman Returns.

Just got back from it.

****ing awesome, enjoyed every minute of it.

Heath Ledger was just simply outstanding, flawless. If any actor in the future is offered the Joker part in upcoming Dark Knight movies they should flat out turn it down. No one would do it justice imo.

Fantastic movie, very pleased with it.

Look forward to seing what villian they go with next, Bane would be a good start.

Wow, Heath's Joker was amazing, i was asking myself "how could you direct that" it just seemed as though Heath knew what he was doing as the character. I loved the interegation room scene, I actually liked the Joker himself too. And how good was Heath when walking away from that hospital? Am so getting that DVD

One interesting thing someone threw up was instead of outright trying to recast Ledger - why not use a different actor every time?

ust an idea here, but... with recasting the Joker: if they for whatever reason take this thing beyond a trilogy, and the Joker stays constant throughout... what about having a different actor play the Joker each movie? Still the same Joker, but as someone said earlier, his personality is always changing... if they make his appearance deteriorate more and more with every movie, and if the voices aren't TOO different, it could actually work.

Dunno though, just a thought, but... if you're going to recast the Joker, it would add to the enigmatic style the character is, I think, to cast him different each time. Because honestly, I doubt anyone could "replace" Ledger in the sequels, but if they turn it into something of a style for the character itself, it might get pulled off better then just sticking with one replacement after.

Interesting idea.

Batmans voice was really annoying, why did he do it even when in the presence of people who knew his true identity?

Anyway, the 2 Face thing was certainly rushed, the relationship wasn't fully expanded upon and very akin to the Star Wars Anakin Padme bullshit.

But overall I think it was a very good movie, while Heath Ledger was just unbelievable, one of my favourite performances in a long time, deserves a post-humous Oscar IMHO.

His suit probably alters his voice, his voice is similar in the Justice League movie.

The only thing that I wasn't sure of was the was the last scene with Joker he was just left hanging there. Now do I assume that he was takin to Arkham or what it seems they didn't end it right to me, But I loved every minute bowdown to The Joker.

Saw it at Imax, that was the shit. Love all the movie, some bits where so so, but still up there with Ironman. If they are doing a 3rd I think they'd need to do Mr Freeze. He's the next best enemy apart from Bane and he is a later era bad guy. As long as they don't bring in the penguin. That character should of been killed of decades ago. Perhaps bring back Raz, but could we at least pronounce his name right this time?

It'll drop down soon. A lot of movies jump right up in the rankings (granted, usually not to number 1) and gradually slide down.
I was thinking the same, and while no movie has gotten to No.1 in recent times, at 49,915 votes, it is still holding that No.1 spot by a fair way.

When he becomes Batman he becomes someone else. He isn't just Bruce Wayne in a suit. The voice is Batmans voice. Hence he does it no matter who he's talking too.

Yep, I agree. 89 version was slightly better. I think people forget how good that movie was.

Well, it's beaten Spiderman 3

Beats Spider-Man 3...

The Dark Knight delivered the biggest opening weekend EVER at the box office this weekend, earning a stunning $155.34 million. That surpasses the previous opening weekend record of $151.1 million set by Spider-Man 3.

We'll have the full box office report up later...

I think the Black Mask should be the next villain.
He seems like a dark character, and has a depressing background.
Mr Freeze would be too lame, as well as Penguin.
The Riddler could be okay, if he was the complete opposite personality of Jim Carrey. But even then, the Riddler and the Joker have a pretty similar character.

damn that was an epic film...... my bum still aches from sitting in the same spot for 3 hours (including ads) squashed between a crowd of people.

Definitely will be a better experience watching it at home with a comfy couch!!!!

ps: my god I know everyone is saying what a great performance heath gave.....but nothing could prepare you for such a deranged maniacal fiend that the joker was portrayed as.

I don't know what villain Nolan could possibly use next...... the riddler, freezy dude, penquin etc seems so pantomine compared to the truly scary Joker.

pps: thank goodness Nolan didn't bow to pressure and cut the Ledger bodybag scene..... the "why so serious WHY SO SERIOUS" monologue is truly grotesque and one of the highlights of the film.
