I have a huge dilemma. With Adelaide and Sydney both losing this week, I am trying to decide on what I want to happen over the next 5 weeks. And I'll just start this by saying that I really don't want Brisbane to win 3 in a row - I live in Brisbane and have seen how much the Brisbane bandwagon grows in Grand Final week, and I couldn't handle another premiership win up here.
I believe that if Brisbane are given a home final at the Gabba in the first week of the finals series, then that will guarentee them a Grand Final spot. And if they win on the weekend, and the play the Bulldogs so it shouldn't be too hard, they will finish second.
But the main way to stop that happening if for Essendon to lose to Collingwood on Friday, therefore giving the Magpies the top 2 spot regardless if Brisbane wins or loses. But saying that if other results go against us, we could finish 8th and have to play our first final probably in Perth.
Now I know that no-one down there wants to see Collingwood win at all, but I would give anything for Brisbane to not win the flag this year, and if its a loss to Collingwood and a road trip in week 1 then I could live with it. Hell, Essendon looked like finishing out of the finals back in Round 12.
What would be worse for anyone else - a Collingwood win on Friday night or for the Lions to go into the history books winning 3 in a row?
