Stay positive peoples.
The reset is in full swing.
Weitering (18 y.o), Cripps (20 y.o) and Boekhurst, graham, kerridge & Docherty (22 y.o) are best 22 already.
C Curnow (18 y.o) has had a taste.
Plowman (21 y.o) is probably the best of the GWS boys so should play when fit.
Byrne (21 y.o) will force his way in before long.
Sumner (22 y.o) has pace and skills. Could be that dangerous small forward we've been crying out for.
That's TEN under 22 players that should be best 22 by years end.
DVR, silvagni and cuningham are developing in the VFL and should play a handful of games each (looking more at 2017 for these guys).
Our coaching panel are young and energetic with a strong development focus.
The future IS bright.

Settle down people. Swans are a damn good outfit right now. Pumped the Pies. Pumped us. They'll be pumping other teams, too.
I think that is what people are forgetting. The Swans are all class, with strength all around the ground. We need to stay realistic and realize that we will cop some of those beatings in the next few years. We can't play the shit teams like Richmond every week unfortunately. ;)

All we can hold onto are those glimpses of quality footy coming from our youngsters. They are certainly there. Weitering again was brilliant, Charlie looked good in patches. Kerridge, Wright, Boekhorst and Lamb played their roles, it's all we can ask of them. We will certainly blood more players this year and finally see what a real rebuild looks like, rather than the patch up jobs that we have seen in the past.

Just a slight sideways move. How much damage did Malthouse and his recruiting team do to the development of the list? He let Betts and Garlett go. He recruited that dud from the Bulldogs ( they got pick 46 and recruited a Betts type in Caleb Daniels). Can't blame him for Waite going tho. Waite wanted to go and it's good to see him doing well at the end of his career.Malthouse was responsible for recruiting Thomas, who is being grossly over paid. But at the end of the day the old Board is liable for importing the Colliwobbles into the club thru the persons of Swann and Malthouse.

On field, of those you can build a premiership list around we have Cripps, Weitering and Docherty locked in. 3/22. Everyone else on the list has a large enough question mark against their name be it age, ability, or lack of exposure.

This is the sad truth.

Our list is so bad, outside of Cripps and recent draftees, we have no one we could trade for a first round draft pick at the end of the year.

Gibbs should be offloaded for whatever we can get end of year, the guy is treated like Carlton royalty, I don't get it.

66 game rebuild then what?
SOS the wheeler and dealer?

Aside from the Dogs, the swans were the standout performers after the first round. We should not downgrade their second round performance - because they only played us. The reality is they have played 2 sparkling , premiership contender matches. Is it too much to concede that we are 10 goals behind a potential premiership outfit?
We should look forward to playing the gold coast to see where we are at.

I see what you're saying here, and agree that depending on how we finish this year, Gibbs will be offered up to enable us to nab another 1st round pick.... as unpopular as this may seem depending on the * landscape on how many of their 12 ditch the club and * get compensated for it... we might try to manufacture a bettering position in the draft for ourselves come the tail end of the season if we're not tracking to well on the wins. We could conceivably improve significantly as a team this year, but not necessarily on the win/loss ratio...

We're competitive, I would call the other night against Sydney competitive, we had our chances to score and keep up but didn't take them, It opened up at times for the Swans but not a whole heap. Some of our youngsters look ok, we need top level ones though.

We have improved dramatically as a side since last year. Sydney are a great team and their midfield is top notch. They (like a top 4 team should against a bottom 4 team) strangled us around the contest. If anything this game tells me how poor Richmond are as a team who gave us much more freedom last week.

When you think that our 10 goals 11 could of just as easily been 14 goals 7 (4 posters) there is a lot to work with and we can take away a so much from the game. There are little green shoots everywhere and we are going to surprise a few of the middle table teams (ala Richmond) this year.

Have to keep reminding myself that we're two games into a 66 game rebuild.
Yes we were poor today, but games like today are going to happen.

From what I saw over the entire weekend, and from what I know of some others who didn't play, the following genuinely look like talents :

Weitering (of course)
Curnow
Plowman
Sumner
Silvagni
Byrne
Sheehan
Cuningham*
Rainbow*

I've not seen hardly anything of McKay so can't say yet

Bit tired of the same negative nellies .... haters will hate.
Bottom line is CFC as a club for the last 20 years have been like the dopers except for the dope.
Arrogant, we deserve to have premierships handed to us, living off the past thinking its a barometer to the future.
I was really starting to worry we would be the next Melbourne. Powerhouse team (and they truly were once). Who just became broken and no one could fix.

So put some smiles on your dials because it won't happen to us now. The mistakes of the past are going to cost us over the next few years and we just have to suck it up.

But please I would like all of the negative nellies out there to answer one question.

Who would you prefer as out couch and head list manager (that was gettable?)

Do you think we have the right people in place now to bring the club into the modern game?

Well I do. We have hard working passionate people finally working for the club pulling in one direction and if you are too blind to see the improvement to our list, our endevour, our game plan and our culture then really there is nothing this club can do for u.

What do u all expect WE WERE LIGHT YEARS BEHIND thanks to some crap recruiting, development, club decisions for years and years and years.

Finally the club has realized there is no magic bullet. Thank god!

Have you?

Thats quite a good assessment some of the very raw talent we have at our disposal. Its all about development for the players, and patience for the fans. We'll get there, I know we will.

I don't have Jaksch in that list because to be perfectly honest right now I have huge doubts about his kicking.
As a forward he kicks points, not goals.
As a defender, he gives the ball back to the opposition in their forwardline.
I hope I am wrong, and I acknowledge I am going off a small base, but from that base I have seen a lot of poor kicking.

This is spot on. It's that entitled, living in the past attitude that stopped our progress until now. Year after year of quick fixes and patch work that never got us a top 4 spot, while teams around us have done what we failed to do and are now having a real crack at it. The entitlement showed on the field too, so it's great to see that at least our boys are digging in.

We can't expect every player under 21 on our list to become an A-Grader, but in a system and a culture that promotes hard work and personal development we can definitely expect more than what we have seen in the last few years, even from our fringe players.
