Terry you need to do it and soon. Get the team looking something like this asap:

B: Newman Thursfield McGuane
HB: JB Polak JON
C: Tambling Raines Deledio
HF: Riewoldt Richo Meyer
F: Brown Schulz Edwards
R: Simmonds Tuck Foley
Interchange from: Pettifer PB Connors Pattison Tivendale Krakouer Moore Casserly Hughes Collins Hyde King Howat Polo

Anyone not on that list should be given directions to the Coburg Football Ground and told that for the next 18 weeks you will be required to spend your time there.

I'd go with that. Then it wouldnt kill me every time we lost like it is now. I'd rather see that team out there then what we have now.

Sensible team too Realistic Tiger. Not ****ing Schulz CHB and Hughes FF etc.

Dont want to see JON and Meyer in when they havent earnt their spot though.

The point is TW should be playing the kids and forget about results they will take care of themselves. I am sure the fans would be more accepting if they could see that the rebuild is actually taking precendence instead of giving guys games as part of some farewell retirement party.

Tell you what if we were to have had a similar side on the park tonight and the result was the same I would have walked away from the ground thinking the future is looking great instead I walked away thinking is there any light at the end of the tunnel at all.

He says we need a group of 23-25 year olds with 75-100 games under their belts to be a genuine contender. Well guys are not going to get that experience playing Coburg. Sure they will develop but the step up to AFL is big and it is time they started to get out there and learn what is required for them to be a successful side.

Serious question, when do you get Kingsley back?

Apparently Round 8, but he should not just be given a spot in the side for the sake of TW getting a few extra wins in a season that should be used to get experience into the kids. Schulz is playing the role Kent would and doing a good enough job. In other words I would prefer Schulz getting it 10 times a game kicking 2-3 goals than Kent doing it considering one is 21 the other 28.

Goning on tonights game, your kids need to learn how to play proper AFL footy, so that sounds just about right. There was no problem with you guys getting the ball, it was what you did with the ball. Get the kids in and let them learn from their mistakes and hope that 10-11 of them improve. Also get Deledio in the middle, instead of using him as the spare man in defence like it seemed like he was tonight.

That makes sense, will Wallace do that though? Chances are though after 8 weeks out KK will take at least another few weeks before he's fit enough for AFL footy anyway.

The Future Must Start NOW!!??????? far out, i thought now was the future and the start was 3 years ago. So if indeed it is officially going to start now, can i look forward to seeing the same thread topic in 3 years time? That will bring us to 2010 and add to that the standard 5 year plan and 2015 is looking good, as the next start to the future. Hey we can even be the club of the future huh? Become a member of the tigers and you will never look back it will always be look at the future, the year after the last future went into the past. ;)

The problem is TW seems to continue to reward the same old hacks with games, they say they want Knobel back hell 2 years and 3 games is not good enough fo a bloke who was supposed to be back up ruck. Move him along, Gaspar is getting a nice farewell party and should be shipped out when Thursfield is fit enough. The others are kids that have been on the list for a while and have not got the job done, time to try someone else.

No intention to troll here. I love AFL footy and respect the entity of each and every club.

I feel sad for the Tiges as I know what you are going through - simular to our era of Peter Schwab's coaching.

Sincerely hope you can turn it around soon.

So who takes responsibility for recruitment & the second rate list?
The Coach or the Football Director? If we assume it is the Football Director, then why won't the club keep the Football Director accountable? Could it have anything to do with the fact he is also a member of the Board? The club is consistently only too willing to accept compromise & second best - the continual recruitment of recycled players is testament to the Football Director's approach over the past five years.

 Nothing to do with TW or GM.

We didn't recruit many good players in '96, '97, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03

Other teams like the Dogs picked up on average 2-3 good players each draft and a star player here and there.

Our drafting sin '04, '05 and '06 are setting us up for later years. We still need a couple more good drafts though and then Terry will continue drafting on a regular basis instead of selling our future.

What about Brent Hartigan? I honestly think he could be an asset for this team. Nice and tough and bit of bulk and pace to him. Still young. Whats the deal?

spot on. We are now feeling the effects of those years. Each year of inept recruiting was putting us back 3-4 years. Thats why we will never see the sunshine until our side has been id of all the players from that period of recruiting. i.e. We need a totally brand new line up. I think that is the plan anyway, but TW still has to balance between what he wants for the future and what the board wants for the now. So he has to keep on picking the same old same old. Lets face it, if 2011 is the number, then which players in the side right now will still be around? And from those, who will be the exeprienced head, that will assume the captaincy? My tip is that Chris Newman will be captaining our 2011 finals side, ably assisted by his leutenants, Polo and Lids. )

Cheers Gaz. But we're used to it. :o

Too true. The members we have - 28 to 30,000 or whatever - are those who have stayed loyal despite the all round crapness of our onfield form since forever. Richmond unlike any other club really are immune to failure. All the gloryboys have long since jumped ship and while those of us who maon about beatings will continue to do so it's not as if it isn't the usual service we all know so well.

The late 80s early 90s coming so soon after the glory of what I call the tiger train years up to '82 were awful but having survived them we will survive anything. Richmond fans are the cockroachs of the AFL - impossible to kill off and capable of taking any punishment.
