Bit of an eye opener when you watch The Goodies before it was snipped by the ABC to run in family viewing time.

My son and I were laughing ourselves silly at the flashes of boobs and bums :D

"We need to give away these 50 puppies in our sweepstakes or else we'll give them an Indian Restaurant"

Cue the model with pots and pans..not really politically correct it must be said.

Also, the fake ads with someone belting the hell out of a housewife for not trying lunt(?), some product that was dishwashing powder or something we won't see on tv again.

"Try Lunt...or we'll send the boys around."

Some guy in the UK apparently laughed so hard at this episode he died.
Yeah, they mentioned this at their live show when they came out to Australia. Then that they'd met his widow. Awkward until they said she said that's how he'd have wanted to go. :D

Saw them out here when they brought their live show (minus Bill, but he filmed some clever parts for a big screen) and they explained some stuff that happened in episodes.

The Giant Kitten episode in the scene where the Great Dane is pulling i think it's Tim along if you slow it down frame by frame you see a dog **** appear.

I forget the exact story they told of the scene but it had everyone in stitches.

That was that they didn't move the shit for some reason, so Tim got dragged across it slowly, frame by frame. :D

When did you see their show? I remember seeing it when I was in Melbourne and all of them, including Bill where there. With them hamming up how old farts they were when riding in on the triple bike.

I've seen Tim Brooke-Taylor on a couple of chat shows, seemed like a really funny guy.

Tim and Graeme have been doing one particular radio show for nearly 40 years - I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue (Bill was in the first series, but apparently didn't like it). It's improv, semi-unscripted - a bit in the vein of Who's Line Is It?

It's basically been the best radio comedy over the that period and is legendary in the UK. Very few in Australia have heard of it (I find), but it is a far greater body of work than the Goodies.

Plenty of torrents available.

Yeha it was something along the lines of they were running out of light for the scene to be shot. Sounds a bit far fetched but great for the laugh factor.

I saw it in Geelong many years ago.

Bill hadn't come out for the show but they had a massive screen behind them and he'd taped his parts. He'd pop out onto the screen and add parts to the stories and their interaction with him in that medium was very well done.

Ill have to check it out again - but fear it is rather dated now.

Not really, no. It was repeated on ABC2 last year sometime. We watched it with our kids and they got most of it. The only stuff I had to explain to them was stuff that had to be explained to me as a kid. Like who are Tony Blackburn, Max Bygraves, Nicholas Parsons, Mary Whitehouse etc. But that's more a function of the Britishness of the show than it being dated.

Edit: The South Africa episode required some explanation. But nothing more than 'South Africa was racist towards black people. Tho official racial policy was called apartheid.'

Australian TV version is being made by the Chasers. Garden is coming out to help set it up.

"The Goodies" need to bring out an entire box set of all the episodes. That would be so cool!

They can even have deleted scenes, so sneak some of the ruder bits into it.

"Here are the rude bits. As you get older, they get ruder and ruder!"
(The Goodies Gender Education film).
