The Green Monster

The green monster is a term often used as a metaphor to describe jealousy. And although we all have a little green monster inside of us, with a hint of envy, no man could be envious of the true green monster. This monster, happens to be everything that the Geelong Gumbies represent. Their mascot, their entire entity in fact, is based around gumby (below).​

For a football club, fantasy or not, to be represented by a green slab of clay, is a disgrace. The Geelong Gumbies have an honest history, with many players commiting to a seemingly worthless cause. Peterss and Ninty are respected league-wide and are admirable in their loyalty. But surely the time has come for them to make an official name change. How a team can be happy to play their home games at the "house of gumby" is unknown. Opposition teams do not feel intimidated, and they are never going to be taken seriously.

Every other club in this competition can claim that they stand for something, they can claim that they have some foundations that are worth preserving. The Gumbies have a history of embarrasment. It would make no difference if they were unbeaten, the fact remains, they are respresented by a gumby. Does it not feel embarrasing to say "Carn the gumbies" before a match?

The Geelong Gumbies are a disgrace to the SFA and can never be taken seriously. A name change is in desperate order come season's end. A new entity should be created, a new foundation set. Then, and only then should the gumbies be thinking of building a successful team.​

I'll give you some credit in that you yourself must know that one game does not make you a star of the comp. You have to perform well on a regular basis and gain a good reputation through posting well and staying active, and I can assure you being this my first season in the SFA you defintly won't be all that in 4 games.

Hey I've never said he hasn't got potential the sim could come out with him playing a ripper game but if you get overconfident and then the sim gives you a shit game it's not the best feeling.
