i sort of compare him to otten's, good up forward and is great in the ruck

does this spell the end to maric? and even biglands?

or do we develop him into a centre half forward ruckman? he is the best mark out of the lot of them and looks great up forward! but can we play with a perminant 3 big man side?

after seeing how this guy has impoved with game time i am sorta glad that we let matty clarke go! its hard for me to say that but its kinda true

Im all for this guy, but he didnt show last night he was the best mark of all of them. He missed a sitter or two at the northern end. Lets not get too far ahead of our selves. But i firmly believe he will develop into a very good player. Would have been handy to have lil bodie at the bottom of the packs last night. We were and have clearly been missing a forward line crummer.

But who didn't?

I don't know if anyone else noticed his goundball get inside 50 in the 3rd quarter but it was below his ankles, he picked it up cleanly off the bounce in the space of less than a second!!!

I went troppo when he kicked his second goal, unbelieveable agility and was amazingly the first link in the chain to the goal as well!!!!!

Get on this boy.. he is a super talent! :thumbsu:

Yes yes yes I yelled. When I saw that I know why the club kept him in cotton wool. Just remember if it wasn't for injuries we wouldn't be seeing him just yet.

Agree with everything you said.:thumbsu:

This is the arousing part.......the first thing to notice about Rehnny's first few games was how good he was below the ankles - sure hands - scooping the ball on the run.

That goal on the run snapped across the body was very very classy.....never looked like missing.

Heck - he might even make me change my "Never handball to a ruckman" rule......:D

LOL gun! - Most of the time Griff is hungrily screaming for the ball like a starved dog for his teammate to do anything but pass it to him :D

And when he's not, he's getting it himself.. below his ankles mind you

He WANTS the ball! Give it to him!! We like the boy!!!

I reckon he goes alright ...... reminds me of what I think a ruckman sized version of Brett Burton would look like - he certainly seems to have good agility.

He won't look that way after NC gets him to 105kgs...

2 years...

Can't believe no-one has mention the holding the ball decision he got with that lunging tackle out on the wing!!!

if he's turns into fraser we'll have done pretty well. ;)

If he turns out to be as good as Fraser around the ground I'll be chuffed, but I'm certain he'll be a more complete ruckman than Josh.
Josh plays like a massive midfielder, but his ruckwork is not good at all.

Didn't Craigy say recently if it wasn't for injuries he wouldn't be playing and then something like "the kid has been brought in before he is ready". Let's hope the good form of Van berlo, Griff and Knights will make the AFC rethink their conservative attitude when it comes to blooding youngsters.

Do you think 6 debuts in 32 weeks of footy conservative ?

As mentioned by another poster, IMO Griffin compares more to Salmon as a ruckman/forward. Forget about playing him CHF though.

No chance of this being the end for Maric, but Biglands would be in strife. Few clubs need a ruckman, so we may be looking to trade.

agreed. Fraser is epitome of the modern ruckman i.e. can't ruck.

which is why we have these numbskulls believing ruckwork doesn't matter anymore. it does, it just doesn't happen so much anymore.

much like the FF, the absence of great ones is the real reason why people suggest the game has moved on.

Anyone? I'm stuck for ideas. Was thinking of maybe 'The Griff' and a number 6 under that, but thats kind of plain.

I think I'm gonna go with 'TERGRIFFIC' with the TE and IC in red and the GRIFF in blue, or the other way around. Oh and a big number 6 at the bottom :thumbsu:

What an awwsome game. He was a big presence up forward and if we had a decent crumber we would've gotten a lot more goals due to Griff giving a contest. He still has a lot to learn in the forward line; he doesn't get to contests as quickly as he could but to kick a few goals was great. Very mobile an dagile.
