Every few months there is a massive hype surrounding a band that is the new saviour of rock, and I'm tipping the next one will be the Hives.

These guys have been around a while, and do they have the songs to back it up? Hell yeah!!! I've got their first album and it's sensational, a mixture of Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, Easybeats and other bands. Really love the drumming on it, nice heavy snare.

The new single has been getting played on Triple M - which is pretty incredible, and I notice HMV are promoting the new single heavily.

I think it's good - the more quality bands getting commercial airplay the better.

I've been getting into these guys. Surprised the hell out of me when I heard them-didn't expect a snarling 60s punk (ala the Sonics) band smashing head on with the best 70s punk (ala the Dead Boys). My better half has bought both of their albums and they are on high rotation at home.

Garage punk being played on MMM-wow it's the Sunnyboys all over again.

Heard the single the other day, pretty cool song, but didn't catch the title. What's it called and what the origins of the band?

where's wally?

Heard them awhile ago. Swedish I believe? Yeah, good punk/rock tunes which seem fairly edgey and not the usual stuff. Kinda like the White Stripes in that they've taken the ball and ran with it to create something unique.

currently got 'veni vidi vicious', white stripes 'white blood cells' and the strokes 'is this it' in the 3 tray cd player on constant rotation... !

yepp.. swedes...

theres quite a few of these punk/garage swedish bands out there i gotta download some tunes from...

anyone into fellow swedish groups like the International Noise Conspiracy, the Hellacopters, rival schools, millencolin, randy ??

I love 'Hate to say I told you so'! It's one of those songs that when you hear it, you do whatever you're doing faster(no not that;) )

Surprisingly, they're a 'manufactured' band, and they have most of their songs written for them. Not a lot of people know that.

Sweden is an absolute goldmine when it comes to good music. Plenty of great punk bands, as well as hardcore. Millencolin and No Fun at All been the most famous, but I have a feeling the Hives will catch them soon.

Saw the Hellacopters play with the Foo Fighters at HiFi Bar 2000 - that was a gig!!!

I'd recommend to anyone to go buy one of the 'Cheap Shots' compilations by Burning Heart Records. Has some great punk (Millencolin, Hives, NFAA, Satanic Surfers, 59 times the pain), some great hardcore (Raised Fist, Refused) and some rather cr@p ska!

Big fan of the Strokes, took me a while to get into the album but I like it now.

And colin, I didn't know they were manufactured, that's surprising.

Another good Swedish band, Hardcore Superstar. Really liked their song Someone Special, minor hit of a couple of years ago, and the album it came from.

aahhh 3RRR bless em' what would we do without them ......theyve been flogging Black Rebel Motorcycle Club pretty heavily ... guess the commercial rat pack might catch on in 6 months !!...........only after they have toured for RRR.of course...cant give a little old Community station any publicity now can they !!...fingers crossed that they continue to leave Gomez and Idlewild alone

Theyve been out for years, on burning heart records. theyre very cool, but theyres alot of other bands of similar stature just as good, like the peepshows also sweedish. but whilst yr at it, local bands like the spoilers, dallas crane, and the exotics are just as fun and just as good, they also have more of a sense of humour, the hives can be pretty wooden.
