I really need to watch Aftersun. Think it would be right in my wheelhouse.
Aftersun is one that didn't click for me until the 2nd watch. A few people missed the meaning/implied events that transpire that aren't explicitly stated, and left them a little cold/disappointed.

Once I had done some reading and watched it a second time it made sense how highly regarded it is. Very personal, beautiful and deceptively dark.

I really want to watch it but worried it will put me in a deep funk.

Been a great thread for recommendations.

I've dropped the ball massively on movie viewing last few years so it's good to get a refresher on titles I've forgotten about or missed completely. Now that the kids are a bit older I'm getting back into more watching. I'm going to start to try watch one movie per week which is ambitious for me.

Which ones are on your to be watched list now?

Let me know once you’ve watched Past Lives, I adore it and love hearing people’s thoughts on it.
I'll have to revisit it again sometime. I had it in my top 5 for 2023 which was a strong movie year.

I watched another one of your faves recently - Inside Llewyn Davis. Really enjoyed it, love a good Coen Brothers film.

God I love that movie. I'm looking forward to Honey, Don't. Can never remember which Coen bro does which movie but it looks really good from the trailer.

Keep ticking off my top 4 Sketi!

They have a lot of contenders for my favourite movie of theirs, but on some days it’s definitely Inside Llewyn Davis. Would probably make my equivalent of this list for the 2010s.

It has that classic Coens style dialogue, but feels like it has a bit more depth than a lot their stuff. To borrow a word from MrsEddieBetts , soulful.

I am pretty overdue for a Wayne's World rewatch 😅

Did you listen to the Rewatchables ep of Wayne's World? That's pretty much what I sound like when I talk about that movie 🤣
I've only listened to a handful of Rewatchables, should probably check out more. I dug out the Get Out one recently just cos I was bored and love that movie.

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a podcast before. Some lectures and related stuff back in uni days if that counts. Feels like a part of modern culture that I’ve entirely skipped/failed to seek out.

I was never a podcast girlie but then my most trusted Movie Guy recommended the Big Pic. I didn't love it but stumbled upon the Rewatchables (some of the same people) and loooved it. Now I listen to them in the car a lot, but only ever the Rewatchables, some episodes of the Big Picture, and then a very girlie one that I doubt anyone here would be interested in!

I never did until 2020, basically, and then wondered what my aversion had been. Never listened to the Rewatchables podcast though that seems very popular around these parts.

This made me look at my listening time...
61 days listened to bill Simmons pod 😬 thank god for 1.4x and skip silence.

To bring it back to movies:
16 days on big picture and 3 days on the rewatchables

I wonder if those stats included eps marked as played.... Seems a lot lol.

2. The Batman
3. Everything Everywhere All at Once
4. Pig
5. Oppenheimer
6. Weapons
7. Civil War

With apologies to Furiosa, Dune: Part Two, Alien: Romulus, Evil Dead Rise and The Substance that all just missed the cut.

Also with apologies to all those excellent movies I haven't seen yet.
