Aftersun is one that didn't click for me until the 2nd watch. A few people missed the meaning/implied events that transpire that aren't explicitly stated, and left them a little cold/disappointed.I really need to watch Aftersun. Think it would be right in my wheelhouse.
I really want to watch it but worried it will put me in a deep funk.Aftersun is one that didn't click for me until the 2nd watch. A few people missed the meaning/implied events that transpire that aren't explicitly stated, and left them a little cold/disappointed.
Once I had done some reading and watched it a second time it made sense how highly regarded it is. Very personal, beautiful and deceptively dark.

Which ones are on your to be watched list now?Been a great thread for recommendations.
I've dropped the ball massively on movie viewing last few years so it's good to get a refresher on titles I've forgotten about or missed completely. Now that the kids are a bit older I'm getting back into more watching. I'm going to start to try watch one movie per week which is ambitious for me.
Let me know once you’ve watched Past Lives, I adore it and love hearing people’s thoughts on it.New ones from this thread:
Aftersun
Don't Look Up
Tar
Past Lives
Zone of Interest
The Holdovers
Already on my list but good reminders:
Licorice Pizza
Beau is Afraid
Oppenheimer
Nosferatu
I'll have to revisit it again sometime. I had it in my top 5 for 2023 which was a strong movie year.Let me know once you’ve watched Past Lives, I adore it and love hearing people’s thoughts on it.
God I love that movie. I'm looking forward to Honey, Don't. Can never remember which Coen bro does which movie but it looks really good from the trailer.I'll have to revisit it again sometime. I had it in my top 5 for 2023 which was a strong movie year.
I watched another one of your faves recently - Inside Llewyn Davis. Really enjoyed it, love a good Coen Brothers film.

It has that classic Coens style dialogue, but feels like it has a bit more depth than a lot their stuff. To borrow a word from MrsEddieBetts , soulful. They have a lot of contenders for my favourite movie of theirs, but on some days it’s definitely Inside Llewyn Davis. Would probably make my equivalent of this list for the 2010s.
I am pretty overdue for a Wayne's World rewatchKeep ticking off my top 4 Sketi!

Did you listen to the Rewatchables ep of Wayne's World? That's pretty much what I sound like when I talk about that movieIt has that classic Coens style dialogue, but feels like it has a bit more depth than a lot their stuff. To borrow a word from MrsEddieBetts , soulful.

I've only listened to a handful of Rewatchables, should probably check out more. I dug out the Get Out one recently just cos I was bored and love that movie.Did you listen to the Rewatchables ep of Wayne's World? That's pretty much what I sound like when I talk about that movie![]()
I was never a podcast girlie but then my most trusted Movie Guy recommended the Big Pic. I didn't love it but stumbled upon the Rewatchables (some of the same people) and loooved it. Now I listen to them in the car a lot, but only ever the Rewatchables, some episodes of the Big Picture, and then a very girlie one that I doubt anyone here would be interested in!I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a podcast before. Some lectures and related stuff back in uni days if that counts. Feels like a part of modern culture that I’ve entirely skipped/failed to seek out.
