Its good to see Craig use the huddle to combat the flood yesterday.
It shows hes a thinking mans coach who has Plan b,c and d.

The flood at CHF deep in the last quarter nearly gave me a horn.

NC promised there would be different set ups for different teams and times . Good to see and it got the commentators( as such) talking.

Makes it very hard for other teams to predict us. That gives me a horn..oh and so does Rutten

Well i wont go as far as you & tj (in regards to horns on the loose) but i agree that was a plus for Craigy :)

McLeod kicking the ball in from a behind is also thinking outside the box.
I like Craig. Truth be known, he will get us into the eight (based on the first few rounds) so all we need now are tickets to the "G"

I know many might not believe this, but I posted a suggestion (somewhere, I think on BigFooty when it first started) ... that the hudlle that was being used for kick-ins might also be useful in the forward-line as a team was going into attack against a flood.

This was when "the flood" was a brand-spanking-new tactic.

It has taken only six years to see an AFL coach finally use the idea.

That made me think of a "huddle" as a possible addittional anti-flooding tactic. If you are held up getting the ball quickly forward, and your forward 50 is already full of opposition players when you have a free kick or mark in the square, perhaps what you should do is create a huddle in you own forward 50 about 35m out right in front of goal.

If the opposition goes man-on-man, then your players should "break" from the huddle, both towards your own goal and away from it.

If the opposition implements a "zone" around your huddle, then your players should not break and the kicker should try and lob the ball right into the centre of your huddle.

Either way you are liable to end up with a shot on goal inside your forward 50.

What does everyone think?
