Been reading this book the past week. It's based on the bulls 1990/91 season and its a very interesting read.. gives you a completely different perspective on jordan and the bulls. Actually makes him out to be a completely selfish, whinging, arrogant pr*ck! I was shocked. Not too disimilar at all to how Kobe was portrayed up until a couple of years ago..Anyone else read the book? I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions..

Loved the book. I had a fair idea about what Jordan was like before reading it so wasn't shocked by it, but still an interesting read.

Just imagine what it would have been like if they were a lottery bound team that season.

"If I were a general manager, we'd be a better team." Nice one MJ.

The book about him in Washington (I've forgotten the title) is even better and portrays how difficult he was to work with.

Mr. Jordan Goes To Washington.

Haven’t read The Jordan Rules for years but remember it’s only written from Sam Smiths perspective. I liked it, thought it was a good read. May have to dig it out have another read.

Is this the book that tells the story how he punched John Paxson (or was that Steve Kerr) in the face one training session for not passing him the ball?

theres quite a few around, this is a good one, again shows him as a prick, the journo is not in the jordan loop, so he has a dig, but its a good read

jordan is not like buddy fev or ablett, he was one of the most recognizable faces on the planet, does strange things to a guy, funny watching him nurture and mould the JORDAN brand on and off the court

'When Nothing Else Matters'

Agreed. One of the best bball books I've read, and paints a very honest picture of MJ.

Jordan Rules is also a great book.

Well done team thats the book.

It was funny for the author to write about his colleague at the Washington Post, Michael Wilbon, who ostracised him the sporting journalists community because he would say negative, truthful things about Jordan and Wilbon was/is known for buddying up to big stars.

Just started reading it again, up to the start of the 1990/1991 season where the Bulls are looking for a veteran and a tall guard. Very interesting. Can't beleive how much say a player can have on draft/trade decisions (well he didn't really get his way but still got his word out their:p).

Great book...really rips into some of his team mates..i love this quote from the book when MJ is talking to Pippen in the locker room, about Stacey King who's sitting right next to him.
"You ever hear of a guy, six-eleven maybe and two hundred sixty pounds, a guy big and fat like that and he can't get but two rebounds, if that many, running all over the damn court and he gets two rebounds? Big guy like that and he gets one rebound. Can't even stick his ass into people and get more than that...Big, fat, fat guy. One rebound in three games. Power forward. Maybe they should call it powerless forward."

A few others...
"They don't need a ticket to watch you sitting on the bench. They can go to your house for that." - Michael to Charles Davis who was sorting through his tickets for his family and friends.

"Headache tonight, Scottie?" - Michael asks Scottie, while showing him his 2-for-16 line

"Will Vanderbilt. He doesn't deserve to be named after a Big Ten school." - Michael on Will Perdue

"He can't do anything with the ball. Don't give it to him." - Michael yelling at Paxson who passed the ball to Perdue.

"It's probably a twelve-day. He needs two days to wake up." - Michael on a ten-day contract teammate.

What a dick. Kobe got killed in the media for calling out his team mates, yet no one ever gets on MJ's case about it because "he is ultra competitive". Its crap. Much like how Garnett gets away with a lot of his shit.

im pleased to announce that when nothing else matters arrived today. its a nice soft cover copy. nice to touch. hopefully nice to read.

its a excellent book:thumbsu:

Also for those who didnt know Sam Smith wrote a follow-up to "The Jordan Rules" called "Second Coming" which goes over MJ's retirement, time in baseball, his comeback and losing against orlando and the 72 win season with Rodman etc.Goes into Luc Longleys struggles a bit too

Not a bad read

still if you want to get the best basketball book ever, i highly recommend "Fab 5" which is all about Webber,Howard.Rose etc, about their recruiting process and the impact they had on College and pro basketball

guys, was too tired to read on but i cant wait to continue tonight. i cant wait to see if the wiz take kwame brown, who they reckon will be like garnett, and if jornda's gonna come back!!

please dont post spoilers here fellas

the first pages talk about How Jordan will only talk to Smith on a strictly professional basis due to Smith releasing "The Jordan Rules"

the man holds a grudge as we all saw in his acceptance speech
