AFL Club
Carlton
I saw this video a while back, and i haven't seen it posted on here yet. i think that every player at the club should have to watch this video or videos similar to this to show them how much of a privlidge it is to be wearing the navy blue.

Thats how it should be... it isnt a right to wear that Old Dark Navy... it is a privilege and you have to earn it.

There is a dyed in the wool 110% blue blood who would have died for that jumper.

Apparently Melbourne got the Father/Son rule introduced so that they could recruit Barassi jr, but we got in there first.

Chokes me up that old school passion for the club. If we had 22 out on the ground who truly felt the same way, we would win the flag this year.

I assume they lived out of the Carlton recruiting zones if he could not automatically play for Carlton without the father/son rule?

People talk about the Blues being affluent enough to buy teams throughout our history, but it was only interstate players that were fair game wasn't it? The rest were zoned, correct?

Correct . I was zoned to Nth Melb whilst living in Bayswater as a kid so I stopped playing footy when Carlton told me the bad news . It was the Blues or no-one.

He was living out in Flemington which was zoned to the Poos, and he wanted to play for his dad. At the time there were the rumours of the Father/Son rule coming in, so he went and played for Box Hill for a season until it came in and then he got a clearance to come and play for the Blues (in the same year as Harvey Snr got the gig as the thirds coach) and the rest of the story is writ in Historys pages.

Where I lived in West Preston was actually zoned to Fitzroy (hence the roys getting the Serafini brothers... who were all mad Carlton supporters) and I wasnt interested in going to play for them... but we moved around a lot and after a few years of moving, ended up in WA and I dropped out of playing football.

What great passion and a fantastic interview, loved Harvey, yep all players should watch and get Harvey down for a emotional/motivational chat, I love that 'no jumper swapping' in the GF..:thumbsu:

The last man to fully respect it was Peter Dean

I saw him yell at the players in the changerooms who threw their jumper on the floor after a game....usually the kids

"Show it some god damn respect"
