Is there anything better in football? Seriously, time after time, Lenny carves up his direct opponents with this simple but so, so awesome move. Its getting borderline embarrassing to watch these idiots just standing and watching, as our messiah just waltzes by with ease.

A monumental performance last night to cap it all off.

What a man.

known Lenny for most of my life and he has been doing the shimmy for as long as i have known him. Only bloke i know it didn't work on was Glen archer in his first AFL game in Sydney.

It's hard to say who I love more. Lenny, BJ or Armo. But wowz. Quality footballer, quality human being. Harvey passed it to Hayes, hopefully Hayes passes it to Armo! And Geary! And Jack!

BJ.

The man can have my kids after he busted his ass with a busted shoulder and such, of course, Lenny is a very close second, his only downfall is the Sydney aspect, just can't get over the fact he's a Welshman....:p

I have his number on the back of my Saints top (and also his autograph.....along with a few others) and I wear it with pride knowing he will give everything he has for the win. Even when he is not "playing well" he contributes with effort in defence and leadership.

A player that all the others can follow into battle.

Great men have great things about them.

Immediate respect from every player in the AFL. Being cleaned up by Glenn Archer in one's first game can ruin AFL careers - yet now Hayes' name is mentioned in the same sentence with Archer not only because of that first game.

Lenny grew up playing rugby league just like Sam Gilbert, no coincidence they're two of our toughest players.

I grew up playing rugby union and that's a tough sport but even that's not as tough as rugby league. I love AFL and would rather watch it than both rugby codes but some players that think they are tough in AFL would get smashed in rugby. Wasn't surprised that Lenny got back up from that knock he copped last night, he would be used to that kind of stuff playing league.

Tackling is also a big part of rugby, if you can't tackle properly you won't get a game and it shows with Hayes and Gilbert. They are two of the best tacklers in the game, they always go around the hips and drive the shoulder in rugby style. It actually wouldn't surprise me if both Hayes and Gilbert have taught our other players how to tackle properly as we are now known as one of the best tackling teams in the AFL.

Classic rugby tackle from Gilbert here.

I also wouldn't be surprised if AFL clubs start targeting rugby players a bit more. We've already seen it with Karmichael Hunt being recruited to the Gold Coast. The money in AFL is better than NRL after all. Wouldn't mind seeing Billy Slater running around in a Saints jumper.

I think his leadership as well, isn't really praised by outsiders as much as it should be. He has all the qualities, and obviously put them to use when Roo went down.

Would have to be St Kilda's most loved player by opposition supporters.
Would probably be the most loved player by Saints fans as well :)

Yeah not far off. He really is a spiritual leader like Harvey was just due to the respect he has as a player. He doesn't need to say a hell of a lot, his actions do all the talking.

Not a bad guy to have replacing Riewoldt as captain. I think Tom Harley said last night that if he was at any other club he would be captain.

No doubt he's my favourite Saints player too, ever since I started being able to watch the games through international tv coverage!

A pity my girlfriend likes Farren Ray better... no disrespect to Farren, but come on! There's no comparison!

Here's a clip I uploaded. I thought the smother and tackle was a game turning moment by Lenny and it happened so quickly that most people probably didn't even see it. Of course Saints went on to kick the next few goals and take the win, but until this point, the game was hanging in the balance.

Enjoy.

Thanks for that mate.
Just shows what Lenny does, not everyone sees it.
I've read and believe that Lenny would easily captain the other 15 afl clubs, he is surely the best VC in the league, and the best replacement for Rooey while he's injured.

The thing that gets you about that piece of play is that he had already chased three other players before the tackle which made them cough it up. He just has a will to never give up on a play. Everyone chased hard there though and caused enough confusion amongst the Pies to not allow them to get the ball away.

Thanks for the vid mate.:thumbsu:

Damn straight he's a welshman :thumbsu: Penno boy so I absolutely adore him (local team). He's my favourite from the saints and one of the few players I genuinely admire outside my club. So disappointed he never ended up being a swan, but there will always be the few that get away.

I really think he should get the captaincy back. I'm sure you all know the general consensus about Saint Nick outside of your club...:p Lenny though seems like such an honest, tough nut, go get em sort of players.

FWIW he would of fit really well into the swans, but you lot are lucky enough to have him.

Heaps of manlove for Lenny here, I've settled on number 7 to replace the 35 on my jumper. I cringe when I see some players trying to duck and weave around opponents, when Lenny does it I don't worry for a second.

aswell as with me

Also, whenever he sells a dummy with a kick or handball with absolute ease, i cant help but to shout his name out! :D champion
