Sure, if it's him or McMahon, or several others. But we didn't lose because he was out, we lost because too many passengers were in and we have poor balance in a couple of key positions - not an uncommon theme this year.

We lost because we did not play frenetic football in the back half until late in the third quarter.

We played that way from the get go and we win. comfortably.

Yeah it would have been good to see what Carlton midfielder that Levi couldn't stop tearing us a new arseh*le.

amazing how you defend every player yet ridicule Levi (someone who gives everything he's got out there). Find it a touch strange

I could see why he was dropped and I liked the balance of the team to be honest. If anything the role he could have played might have been defensive forward on Simpson? But apart from that I didn't see a role for him.

play him as an inside midfielder, and release ziebell and cunnington a bit more so they can have more impact on the outside...

Scott before the game that Hine/Basti would both have run with roles...Greenwood's effectiveness as a shut down player far outweighs that of Bastinac's who struggles to lay a half reasonable tackle.

You're assuming he has to be played as a tagger.

It is not his best position. Defensive minded mid sure but he should play his natural game aka hunt the ball.

Exactly. How many "pure inside" midfielders do Sydney play every week?

yet we play Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington and Greenwood and all of a sudden we have too many inside mids...Levi could easily play Bastinac's or McMillan's role in the side. As shown against Richmond when he is allowed to go get his own footy and play in space he can actually be quite damaging.

If he is played and given a specific job of shutting down someone I expect him to do his job. If he doesn't then suffer the consequences.

Bastinac was bad? Who kicked goals on Atley?

Scott said in the lead-up that Bastinac and Hine would have shut down jobs. Basti rotated on a number of players, but he was on Marc Murphy when he turned the game in the third quarter. He was also on Judd when he started getting his hands on the pill in the last quarter. So where does Basti stand according to your statement "If he is played and given a specific job of shutting down someone I expect him to do his job. If he doesn't then suffer the consequences"?

Atley had 3 goals kicked on him from my count. 2 on Garlett, 1 on Betts. Letting small forwards as dangerous as those two get forward of the contest on a number of occasions while offering bugger all the other way isn't exactly setting the world on fire. I'm one of Atley's biggest fans, but when he has been given jobs this year he hasn't done that well defensively.

Its been crap.

Greenwood is a competitive beast and even if he does get beaten when tagging, he doesn't make it easy for the opposition. Against the tigers he was BOG, because every Disposal Cotchin had he had to earn it.

Some of you blokes really need to watch games more closely. Levi's task was to shut down Rich. Whatever other attributes you think he might bring, this was his primary task. However, on three separate occasions after goals were scored, Rich sprinted to the interchange bench and Levi wandered aimlessly la di da back to the centre without even realising. Three times. By the time he realised and ran off, Rich had enough of a rest to come back on and he impacted the game before Levi was able to get another rotation. Three times.

Against the Tigers he got some of his own ball, but his primary reason for being in the squad was to shut down Delidio, which he did well. He completely lost his way against Rich, Rich then dominated and played a massive part in why we lost. Totally deserved to be dropped.

I was baffled when I saw Levi had been dropped. There were several blokes he has been ahead of in the last few weeks. We sure missed his hardness at the footy.

Also would mind seeing a "For crying out f***ing loud in all of the mother****ing name that is holy why was Gibbo the sub last night?" thread.

Yeah I'm not disputing that (although that standard certainly hasn't been upheld for many players in the firsts), what I'm saying is tagging shouldn't be his job.

Pretty sure you need to watch games more closely....against the tigers he was on cotchin. Hine played on Deledio.

Rich is a burst player, he is not a suitable match up for Greenwood. greenwood should have played on rockcliff who destroyed us more-so than Rich. Hine played on rich the first time we played them and kept him to 12 touches why wouldn't you give him the job again?
