Sure, if it's him or McMahon, or several others. But we didn't lose because he was out, we lost because too many passengers were in and we have poor balance in a couple of key positions - not an uncommon theme this year.

Yeah it would have been good to see what Carlton midfielder that Levi couldn't stop tearing us a new arseh*le.

You're assuming he has to be played as a tagger.
It is not his best position. Defensive minded mid sure but he should play his natural game aka hunt the ball.

If he is played and given a specific job of shutting down someone I expect him to do his job. If he doesn't then suffer the consequences.
so bastinac and atley should be dropped after last nights efforts?
Bastinac was bad? Who kicked goals on Atley?
Scott said in the lead-up that Bastinac and Hine would have shut down jobs. Basti rotated on a number of players, but he was on Marc Murphy when he turned the game in the third quarter. He was also on Judd when he started getting his hands on the pill in the last quarter. So where does Basti stand according to your statement "If he is played and given a specific job of shutting down someone I expect him to do his job. If he doesn't then suffer the consequences"?
Atley had 3 goals kicked on him from my count. 2 on Garlett, 1 on Betts. Letting small forwards as dangerous as those two get forward of the contest on a number of occasions while offering bugger all the other way isn't exactly setting the world on fire. I'm one of Atley's biggest fans, but when he has been given jobs this year he hasn't done that well defensively.
Good post...goes back to my ^^ comment...our 'tagging' or whatever you want to call it has been over the shop since Round 1.

Some of you blokes really need to watch games more closely. Levi's task was to shut down Rich. Whatever other attributes you think he might bring, this was his primary task. However, on three separate occasions after goals were scored, Rich sprinted to the interchange bench and Levi wandered aimlessly la di da back to the centre without even realising. Three times. By the time he realised and ran off, Rich had enough of a rest to come back on and he impacted the game before Levi was able to get another rotation. Three times.
Against the Tigers he got some of his own ball, but his primary reason for being in the squad was to shut down Delidio, which he did well. He completely lost his way against Rich, Rich then dominated and played a massive part in why we lost. Totally deserved to be dropped.
