To be fair, his match fitness is probably down given his limited pre-season as he was sore towards the end of it.
Very true, probably let my emotions get the better of me. So far this year though, he hasn't delivered.

At least we kicked more than 10 goals....

No one answered my question - I can't bear to watch the game now - but are we playing the same game plan as last year and being flogged for it, or are we trying to be more attacking with the players being given first dibs not having the skill to execute?

If it is the latter, I suspect that the experienced players are being given an opportunity to play themselves out, with the view to easing the younger skilled players in. There's no other way to justify dropping loyal stalwarts of the team but losses, so I can see that this is going to end a long, painful transition year.

The experience of our older players isn't an upside anymore against these younger lists in the competition. The game is too fast for them, their time has come. I'm talking about Barlow and D.Pearce. C.Pearce, Suban and Mayne need to be replaced by younger, more skillful and hungrier players who will be lock ins for the team in the next 2- 5 years. Get time into them NOW. Sutcliffe needs to get the **** out of the backline. Pavlich can't travel, it's painful to watch how slow he is and how much he looks at the umpires. Taberner takes his spot on the plane.

If we're going to get outclassed across the ground on our home deck and finally drop a game to an expansion club, I think that's the sign to just play our youngsters instead. There's no point in spending and wasting game minutes trying to fix these guys now. It's not worth grinding out the rest of the season trying to reclaim a Top 4 spot. We're not going to win the flag this year. Pump experience and rebrand our style of footy now so we can end the season on a good note before picking up key players.

This would be ideal by Round 12:

Out: Barlow, Suban, Mayne, D / C Pearce.
In: Bennell, Yarran, Morabito, Hughes and Blakely.

Taberner > Pavlich on the travel.

A few of our guns need to find form too in the mean time.

Nothing. On a sample size of two, it would not matter if Fremantle won by 100 points. Round 2 could be the anomaly, and round 1 the indication of the season. Only time will tell.

However, if we get smashed by Gold Coast, that's a fair indication that our season is cactus. This melt thread will seem like Frozen in comparison.
Is our season cactus?

Out: Barlow, Suban, Mayne, C. Pearce
In: Taberner, Hughes, Crozier, Tucker

Out: Shitty game plan that doesn't work.
In: Playing football.

Right now I am more confused than disappointed, we knew going into the season there was some gaps (lack of KPP and aging workhorses in Barlow), but that isn't enough to explain the first two performances. Are we underdone? The core guys who can turn games are still of the right age. Can Bennell be the spark to turn it around?

Game two never warrants panic stations or anything drastic and were not rebuilding just yet.

The youngsters we have will stick around if they start seeing opportunities. If they don't come then watch a few leave

Been a big fan of Barlow, it's amazing how quickly the game game can pass you by. Has been a great soldier for the footy club but looks cooked. :(

The high ball is killing us, the forward line needs to be clear and chest marks on leads.

Every player was a culpirit today, the kicking was woeful and the composure is laughable. The sub rule gone has killed our stagnant lockdown style and we had the legs in the last but to no avail.

This is the game we had to lose in order to get the structures right. More taking the game on, more one on one contests at ground level and less hesitation.

We really need a Yarran or Bennell or Mora to help finish with their kicking, it is getting laughable in the forward line.

We did not really improve our forward line, backline lost McPharlin and is not looking as good as as used to be since last season, midfield hasn't fired yet. Who is going to win us games?

Seems we have turned to a more attacking game plan but have no skills to execute the plan, and have chucked our great defensive system in the bin.
The problem I see is that our team defense in the past masked the fact that we have a lot of very poor defenders who just can't defend one on one. When we go to a more attacking style and our mids are forward of the ball instead of helping them out they are exposed badly.

We have some very soft defenders.
