This is an article about Kepler's head-over-the-ball efforts from Saturday night. Well done young man for putting your body on the line and taking the hit... :thumbsu:

But the thing that really excites me - and gives me reasons to be hopeful for this coming season is the sentences that are bolded. It's the bloody message that we have all cried out for for years now... and it seems that the players are taking it on board.

Bradley's act of courage inpires Harvey

WITH one act, one of his first in a Fremantle jumper, Kepler Bradley might just have made a significant statement for his football club in 2008.

Certainly his coach Mark Harvey believes so.

Just a few days ago, Freo midfielder Paul Hasleby made mention of Harvey’s increased focus on hardness at the contest.

Hasleby said the message at Freo this year was simple. Be hard, or don’t wear the jumper.

In his first game since crossing from Essendon, Bradley showed he would be a willing participant in Fremantle’s push for September glory.

The 22-year-old paid a price for his courage, being taken away in an ambulance suffering from concussion after suffering a heavy knock early in the second quarter of Saturday night’s ARTH AFL Challenge Cup win against Carlton in South Africa.

“[It was] Kepler’s first game for Fremantle, and to see the way he went about that, I mean his teammates would gain a lot of confidence just from that,” Harvey said.

The Dockers were trailing at the time of Bradley’s injury, but rallied to lead by four points at half time.

In the change rooms at Centurion’s SuperSport Park, Harvey recognised Bradley’s efforts during the long break.

“I made mention to the playing group about courage and his act and how it happened,” Harvey said.

“You know, sometimes you’re going to lose a player or two, but if you play with the courage and conviction then more often than not you’re going to win.

“I think it’s a huge part of our game … they’re trying to take a fair bit of the physical element out of our game [but] we should never forget the courage it takes to play the game.”

Be hard or don't wear the jumper. I love it! :thumbsu: That should be our club motto - forget the proud, loyal, passionate thing...

Be hard or don't wear the jumper. A sentence of such simplicity and such beauty!! :D

Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper. Be hard or don't wear the jumper.

Isn't it great. :)

Is this type of talk really appropriate considering that this is a family board??

Works for me:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Be hard or don't wear the jumper.

I must admit that's pretty catchy - simple but effective.:thumbsu:

Subi must be looking forward to Dessie playing for them in 2008 I guess.:p

P.S.

Agree 100% IP!!:thumbsu::)

Fantastic motto and a very welcome and needed change of mental direction for our club.

We sort of tried it last year but got the execution very wrong in some cases.

The spirit in the boys is willing....hopefully Harvs is the boy to direct it in the right direction.

I think he is.:thumbsu:

Selwood better hope so.. Dessie gets a free hit each year. :D

I don't mind if we are trying to be "hard" just someone teach the buggers how to do it properly..

I think they call it a lifestyle choice these days and that it's not taught... but if that's the way they like to get down, so be it....not that there's anything wrong with that, just ask adam hunter...

The Journey left with CC. However, if you miss it, I'm sure it's resuming over at Melbourne.

Except they can't actually afford to go anywhere for their journey.

Instead they're just going to sit around reminiscing about how old they are and how the AFL should be grateful to even have a club called Melbourne.

Josh Carr's enough to keep your mob in therapy for the next few years.:p

lets hope that the message gets through. we ve played exciting footy we have played hard footy, just not in a consistant manner that has ensured we are playing finals and that must be our goal. Finals footy is what we should make our goal rather than erasing the soft tag that we are supposidly saddled with , i want us to be winners who cares how we do it

I'm surprised how anyone did not know that this would be the Fremantle mantra when Harvey took over. This is all that Fremantle needed, a coach that the players want to WIN for and have respect for!

Harvey would make every player accountable to not only themselves but to their teammates, fans and the club so that when they walk off the field they KNOW they have given everything to win that game..

Go FREO and Go HARD!!
