9:17am the morning after our 2008 campaign officially came to an end.

Should of seen the writing on the wall when the hapless dogs couldn't even beat Brisbane... if they won by 4 goals we would have started yesterday in 9th spot... maybe being oh so very close may have made our loss yesterday all the more bitter!

I don't know how things transpired at the dome yesterday the way they did, but it was more gutt wrenching than any Carlton game I've seen for the last 6 years.

Even wrecked my night, as I was seeing Wicked... and outside the theatre at 6pm seeing the mass of Carlton people still trecking their way home after the dismall game made me even more depressed!

Fevola, Fevola, Fevola...

our barometer... genius, flawed, hero, villian, talented, stupid, erratic, eccentric, dumb!

I think we need him.. but one thing that perplexes me is that EVERYONE can see he's about to implode... so instead of taking him off for a breather and slowing his schitso momentum down, we keep him on the field still. Could things be worse with him off the ground for 5-10mins?? don't think so, we might actually find someone else to try kick a goal!

Why are our midfielders so scared to try kick it long into the square or have a shot from 50-55 out? Are they scared Fev is going to come for them whilst they sleep?

Our boys tried hard, but the lack of heart yesterday was quite scary. Instead of having 1 bad quarter and 3 good ones (our story for the season), we had 1 good quarter and 3 bad ones.

How are you all feeling? I've still got that sour taste in my mouth!

At least the dons lost!

Damn those tigers!!! I hate Collingwood!! and why the Flark can't Lolmantle do anything... would've made me feel better to hear StKilda had lost!

At least none of our arch enemies will win the flag this year! Go Cats!

All in all it has been a pretty good year and if we can get that 10th or even 11th win it would be sweet. Brissy and the Hawks are beatable. Mind you I would probably be just as content with an earlier draft pick. ;)

Fevola, Fevola, Fevola...(the easy out, what about saddington, armfield, russell, carrazzo, hampson and others when we need them!)

our barometer... genius, flawed, hero, villian, talented, stupid, erratic, eccentric, dumb!.......(our midfield got torn an ew one when we needed them ion the 2nd)

At least the dons lost! (who cares)

We are in a position to continue to go forward....big steps have been tken.

Yep it was more gutt wrenching... last 6 years we were Crud... this year we've taken many steps forward and yesterday was painfully bad.

Our boys did try hard, but they were missing heart (as in spark, nothing could ignite them no matter how hard they tried).

I didnt go to the game, nor did i watch it and probably never will so i have no complaints about the game

in the end i would like to congratulate Carlton on a fine year of footy!!

9 wins so far with 2 games to go!!!!

considering we were in the hunt in around 5 to 6 games we would have easily chaulked up another 3 wins giving us finals contention, but thats life....we cant do anything about that now. but what we can do is learn from these areas of why we lost those games and improve on the off season.

in the end, we were not good enough in those close losses but hey......our Carlton swagger is back....no doubt about it.....and with another decent pre-season we should continue our efforts next season and get much better!!

With all the bad years we have had in the past, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel and its closer than we think!!!

Just think, Juddy & Stevo get 2 months rest and hits a full pre-season.
Bower, Austin & Jamo get a little stronger
Kreuzer adds some bulk, plus gets his first full pre-season
Gibbs & Murphy continue there improvement
Likes of Grigg, Armfield, Browne, Hampson all continue there development and increase there output for next season.
etc etc etc etc

There is so much to like!!!

Once again, our year might be over in terms of finals....but the year is not over.....we have 2 games to go!!! We can give these teams a shake....we have nothing to lose and everything to gain.....and that what makes us so dangerous......SO CARN THE BLUES!!!

we can look back at 2008 and call it the season that was..........its the season where we are fighting back to where we belong and showing all those teams we are a force to be reckoned with in the seasons coming!

Congratulations once again TO THE MIGHTY BLUES........the Navy Blue Army will be back bigger and better in 2009!!!

We were flogged yesterday by a harder, better, more well-rounded and more experienced side. True. We really were belted.

However, let's remember back a few short months... going into the first Collingwood game we had lost 14 straight (or something... close to that). Since that momentus day and win, the Blues have made it clear they are BACK IN TOWN.

No matter how disappointing yesterday was, we're back, baby! 2008 is the year we came back from utter irrelevance to where we should be, in the big time, in the news, and in people's heads. Every team has to take us seriously now.

I didn't learn much yesterday, and the 15 threads about who needs to go are silly and reactionary. The Gold Coast Kangaroos are a damn good side, and have beaten better teams than us this year. It's no disgrace to lose to them.

We know Fisher is hanging on by a thread. We know Saddington has played his last game in the AFL. We know our midfield is fairly soft defensively, and we have no answers for small forwards. We know we need a second (and third) target in the forward line, and we know our rucks are 2-3 years away from being competitive. But we knew all of that before yesterday, so getting hysterical now doesn't help.

The Blues have come a LOOOOOOOOONG way this year, and there's still a long way to go. But we're young, and we'll do it! Go Baggers.

The two best teams imo (Geelong & North) have beaten us by 50 points plus this season.......wow what do you expect.....they have been playing together as an experienced group for far longer than us, but in both games we have played good quarters, but our deficiencies are shown up when the heat is really applied by the more physical & well drilled teams.

Surely some of our 100 point plus insipid miserable never gunna win efforts in the past were more painful.......they were for me, because the future of our great club was really at breaking point.

At least on the back of yesterday, you know that significant improvement has been made, even though we were exposed to how far we still have to go.

Anyone that expects us to be up with the best so quickly in delusional in their thoughts and expectations.

Rome was not built in a day!

Spot on Faz!!:thumbsu:

I didnt go to the game yesterday, i decided to work, mainly due to the fact that as much as i hoped we would win i realy could not see it happening, the roo's are a seasoned and hardened team, there peeking at the right time there in dam good shap.
We on the other hand are young we are starting to tire, our season has now been long for our young group, i still hope for more wins befor seasons end, but our team is like a new car we have to get it run in befor it will perform at its best, our best is still comming.
I dont except mediocrity and our efforts yesterday should have contained more grit, we didnt have an honerable lose we got belted and it does and should hurt, as Carlton supporters we dont want better we demand better and that is what makes us strong, as bad as we the supporters feel people like Sticks Braddles Ratts will be gutted and they will be making sure that all that represented our club yesterday are made fully aware that it was not good enough.
