she is older than me and it was in my time.

There's no age when it comes to a great dance track, but somehow I think Colette is still waiting for her bell to ring.

For those just about to head out on the BMX - don't forget your helmet.

and one last dance for the ladies in the house!

poor colette, she is trying her darnest to hold that tune.

were you more a rick astley man:

Erh, not really.

The joy of pure pop that engulfed the charts and spirit of humanity from around 1962 ended when Frankie Goes to Hollywood released Welcome to the Pleasuredome late '84. Where can you go after that? With various and obvious exceptions, chart pop was over.

Many varied reasons, naturally - but alot of the blame goes to Stock, Aitken and Waterman house style of the mid-80s. Ironically, one of their first productions was a masterpiece of pop, and still sounds incredible...

By 1987, the bubble was breaking - white kids discovered ecstasy and began to re-think what a record could do to their lives...within a couple of years, the groove was back, and we again climbed walls in bare feet...

"Here we go! A---ha, here we go!"

1987 for ectasy?
No way.
That wasn't anywhere near mainstream until 2000 'ish'

very interesting...i would say pop was on a downhill slide from the advent of pop, much like any genre. it was only truly harnessed as a marketers dream in the mid 80's onwards.

vale the great pop song.

I wish VC!

MORE DISCO!!! Not ready to move to pop just yet :)
You want more disco .

Must admit, when I saw James' disco song choices above, I dusted off the old mirror ball and had a dance in the living room with my dog. She loves disco :D.

Here's a few more (get your platforms and big hair ready ;));

Thank you, will have a jig at lunchtime :)
Only know one of the songs from your list, and one from James's, but it doesn't matter with disco!

I'm going to set myself a challenge and put a couple of my favourite disco songs up to complete the disco theme!

Not wanting to start an argument, but you may want to go back and study the history of popular culture, looking up the 'Second Summer of Love' from 1988. Depending on what story you believe, a certain Manchester band brought back a suitcase of the stuff from a Spanish holiday in late '87, gave it to all their friends at the local disco, which led to the UK rave scene and acid house...within months it was wordlwide, and tracks that would have been underground only months before were hitting the charts.

Maybe it took 13 years to hit your area. :D

Look out music thread, think I've worked out how to post videos :D.
Here's a couple of disco songs that I do remember dancing to (also remember Pivotonian's very well!):
