It is a good topic. Will think of a couple of my favourite guilty pleasure songs and post later.
It could become a contest to see who likes the most disliked song.

I know I have a couple tucked away that I'm careful never see the light of day.

Oh the shame.

Please post some more of yours Pivotonian, I'm a bit confused, as I quite like the songs everyone's posting o_O
(Afternoon delight will be stuck in my head for days lol!!!!!!!!!!!)
Think this qualifies (and reminds me of Glee, so all good ):

LOL, I don't mind Duran Duran...now.

Hated them when I was in school but I quite like "Planet Earth", "Hungry Like The Wolf" and "Wild Boys".

"The Reflex" would be in there as well.

Planet Earth is a stand-alone-pop-masterwork.

The Reflex is...ridiculous, but it just makes me giddy. It's the girls backing vocals I think - "Sha na na na. Sha na na na"

A song I loathed when I was a kid, and hated even more just a few years ago - god, that bombastic 80s production - eghh.

But now I 'get it' after hearing it on the radio just a few months ago - "Once upon a time I was falling in love, but now I'm just falling apart. Nothing I can do - a total eclipse of the heart" - that line just kills me now. Incredible :p

Agreed, pure new wave brillance. Easily their best from where I'm sitting.

And I no longer feel guilty about liking it.

I dare not post Girls on Film.

But I can't believe I failed to include this from their arsenal.

Brilliantly utilised in 'Donnie Darko'.

Guess it's my turn to embarrass myself with a couple of songs I play now and again, definitely when I'm on my own (I'm counting on you not to give away my usually 'cool to my girlfriend' taste in music catgal23 ;))

Don't know if it's because of Back to the Future, but I like this tune too;

Are you high on believing Tom?

I'm looking at these nominations I am I pretty sure I have everyone covered.

And no, not with "Panama".

I learnt not long ago what 'afternoon delight' is Tom, tsk tsk, cheeky ;). Guys and their one-tracked minds :D

My confession is that I love all the songs you guys are nominating. I wouldn't even play them in secret lol!

Come on DF, VC et all..........name some of yours.

You think your Duran Duran entry is worse?
The songs I have in mind are worse than Duran Duran (who I don't mind these days).

There are 3 songs I can think of that I like that I am actually embarrassed to admit to liking. After I listen to them I feel the need to shower.

Van Halen and Duran Duran are mere entrees to the craptastic tunes I'm holding back.

Although "Never Gonna Give You Up" might give them a run for their money.

If we're talking Phil Collins, Mike and the Mechanics or Genisis after Peter Gabriel left, then I may have to open a window.

Come on Pivotonian, now I really want to hear them
I'm leaving work now, and I'll post a couple more when I get home (please no I hear you saying :D). They'll be worse than yours I guarantee!

No, not them either.

However, and this isn't one of them, I do remember having this song on a Mix Tape.

It was followed by this...

Which still makes me chuckle a bit.

Please, nothing from hair metal, surely - Twisted Sister, Poison, the band that sang about cherry pies...:straining:
Not from that genre that's for sure.
