As it is still January the M.V.P race is still open and for many to win.
Right now and for the end of the season who do the well respected pundits of this bored believe is leading/going to be the M.V.P (also keep it out of the weekly threads)

For mine it's Lebron James. Career number across the board at this juncture. But hey, things change right?

Even though he's going to leave and I'll hate him, it's Dwight and has been the past 3 seasons. No other player in the NBA would have the effect of taking a team that would otherwise be lottery bound, to being a legit title contender. Does big on both ends, and is THE most dominant force in the A.

LeBron. Dwight close, further away to KD35, CP3 and D-Rose would want to return very soon or they'll be left behind but they're in that caliber when fit.

That said, put KD35 first in the medias mind as the romance is still there for the first one, Lebron second, Dwight third because the media love flash and scoring over big men doing work.

Right now?

1. King James of course.

29.8 PPG on 57% FG shooting and 47% from 3 (career high), 8.0 RPG (career high), 7.4 APG, 2.0 SPG (career high), 1.0 BPG in 37.1 MPG (career low). PER of 35.

2. Howard (seems to be underrated in MVP discussions. He is the whole Magic team and they're going along nicely)
3. KD/Kobe

I think Dwight just plainly need to score more to go the the top of the M.V.P conversation. Just my opinion anyway.

As good as he has been over the last few years, He has barely gotten full votes in the MVP

Maybe the 'scorers title' should be given the Mike D'Antoni trophy while those who are the most valuable can continue getting the MVP :D

I know the MVP is for the regular season, but how about we wait until LeBron does something in the Finals before we announce him the most VALUABLE player?

IMO you're of minimal value if you're a starting 5 player and can't perform in the finals no matter what you do during the regular season. It's one thing to make the NBA Finals, but it takes 8-10 valuable players to win a Championship.

Derrick Rose won it last year and got shut down by Lebron in the conference finals

That's not how it works though. The MVP is based on regular season only. End of. No other qualification necessary.

That's why we have a Finals MVP too.
