I'm not a big NBA man, I haven't been since my beloved Karl Malone left Utah... I do still watch the odd game and play offs or if Lebron or some Aussies are playing.

We are gonna have e decent boomers team over the next half decade or so.

P.s I love your replies. So in depth and so informed. On all levels.

I cant wait till you get a gig for the pies (or other team, but hopefully pies)in recruiting. You better PM us some mail when you do.

This comment actually worked as a memory jogger and got me thinking about two excellent basketball resources online.

Maybe not so much targeted towards yourself spartan-magpie if you're not a big NBA fan.

But bballbreakdown and draftexpress are the great NBA educational resources online that I have learnt a lot from over the past few years.

In relation to this post/topic for those that want to learn more about Simmons and Maker DraftExpress is a great place to go with various scouting videos and great strength/weakness summaries relating to their talents. There probably isn't much on Maker on there but there will be plenty on Simmons already on there for those wanting greater depth of knowledge on these guys.

Very very dissapointing loss. Love sucks, I'm over him. He hasn't played well vs a good team in so long. Refs were a joke.. The kyri 3 that he got hit on, the Delly trip, the ball that didn't go out of bounds, no call on every Lebron drive that he got in Miami, every damn offensive foul was bs... and kyrie needs to find his shot now becoming ridiculous. Bad loss.

We Host warriors and Spurs next week meaning we don't play them again till the finals. Also host the clippers. So after this week the cavs will only have a game vs okc and clippers left that would be deemed a 'tough' game. Of course they will drop easy games here and there but should almost certainly have #1 seed if they split those tough games this week.

So Timberwolves won that Trade by getting Wiggins?

Without a doubt imo

Wiggins would of Learned so Much from James.

Love was good when Traded but never played Finals. Don''t think he is Mentally Strong

Wiggins and Lebron would be really good wing defenders, might be able to contain warriors a bit more. Then a decade of Kyrie and Wiggins after Lebron retires would be nice also

The Cavs got hot in the first half, and that nearly never happens v the Spurs, particularly from the perimeter, but the Spurs during the second half showed their class. Tony Parker outplayed Kyrie Irving and the Spurs overall had the better synergy as a team I felt.

The Cavs will surely face one of the Spurs or Warriors in the finals so they're relatively the teams out West to watch anyway.

Three horse race with no real rivals. Even OKC with KD and Westbrook just aren't in that same class as a team, as good as the other components are.

I view the Love for Wiggins trade as a good two way trade personally.

The T-Wolves greatly improved their future prospects which were going nowhere with Love, got great compensation for a guy who would have left as a free agent and got long term a talent they'll as an organisation get much greater value and two way play out of.

The Cavs got the better immediate talent in Love. He is a great rebounder and maybe top 2-3 great at rebounding and can score and stretch the floor. That's better than a rookie in Wiggins who probably even for the next couple of seasons remains better while LeBron is at his best.

The other factor is there was talk that LeBron would walk (again) if the Cavs did not make a BIG move of Wiggins for an established player such as Love as he knew that he and Kyrie would not be enough to win the championship.

Pretty good win today, sorry wicksy. My mood is still very low at the moment from the complete demolition job warriors did to the cavs. Disgraceful.

Didn't actually get to see it... Just watched highlights package just then though. Looked like a fairly comfortable win.
Wouldn't mind seeing Griffin back in the line up though the next time we play you guys ;)

Haha very true, Cole Aldrich is really good. I watched a clippers practice where he dominated cp3, josh smith and Paul pierce in 1v1's. He literally crossed cp3, I was amazed.

This Love + Mozgov for Demarcus Cousins trade rumour can't be true.. Can it? *prays to every God in every religion*

Nope. Vlade Divac is big on Cousins and with the Kings starting to win. They're not interested in entertaining offers for Cousins.

Love Cole!! Gives it his all and has really shone in the absence of Blake.

Something I found on Youtube last night that I really enjoyed.

Search for 'shaqtin a fool', good for a laugh NBA bloopers. You won't believe how many time JaVale McGee features. :P

Yep great segment, I love Shaq.

My all time favourite line from Shaq is when Parsons stuffs up and he goes 'someone needs to fill out a missing parsons report'

Rose needs to stop taking shots.. immediately

Derek's FG% I read the other day has been behind only Curry and Dragic of all PGs since getting rid of the mask. LeBron teams though tend to keep Rose to a low FG% as they really take away any dribble penetration from him. So I can't say I'm surprised.

Fair. But it frustrates me to see him putting up ordinary looks on nights where he's clearly off. Shouldn't be taking +19 shots per game imo.. especially considering his lackluster distribution

Derrick being a poor passer broadly I view as a misnomer. He is a very reliable passer to a target and also can drive and pass back to the perimeter as you'd see of a LeBron. If I had a criticism of his passing/playmaking it would be that he jumps on his passes, but with these jump passes almost never leading to turnovers it matters very little.

Derrick is actually an excellent passer but unlike say Rondo, Wall or Westbrook, Rose does not overhandle and moves the ball much earlier in the shot clock resulting in a lot more hockey assists (assist the assister) rather than dribble, dribble, dribble till there are only a few seconds on the shot clock. Further to this the Bulls on offense have always lacked the shooters but secondly and most importantly the Bulls offense has always been a stagnant, no movement half court offense where guys just ball watch regardless of who has the ball, which doesn't lead to open shots for many assists to be possible. Derrick tries to run down the floor on offense and everyone else just walks due to the lack of athletes and what Thibs always had them playing and this year this continues. It's made even worse by Jimmy Butler who plays such an iso heavy offensive game for such a high usage guy and does not run up the floor on offense.

So if you judge Rose by his assists per game in any season, given this his numbers are deceiving and do not tell the whole picture unless the context of his stats as with anyone are completely understood.
