Post-bye, I’ve decided to break the next 10 games into groups of 5. Surprisingly, these 5 games SHOULD bring a smile to our faces. They’re all very very winnable games.

We start off with Blues. I hope we have no issues dismantling them like we did in Round 4. I don’t see them scoring a lot against our strong defence.

Then we play off for the “Tom Lynch Cup”. We should (hopefully) beat the Suns. They’re a rabble . Interestingly, this will leave us 3-0 for interstate games.

Essendon at the G is always a 50-50 contest. Let’s hope they give up hope on this season and play the young-ones, as I see this match as probably our Danger match in this 5 week block.

WCE at the G. If we are serious about the finals, we have to win this match. Eagles generally don’t play the G that well. Hopefully no sign of Darling at the G, oh maybe that’s not the worst idea..... We need to beat them. If we are serious about the top 8, and maybe push for a top 4.

North at the G. This is a real 8 point game. It could be the difference between a top 4 berth, home-final, travelling interstate for the finals or missing the finals. Their forward line is potent. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of their KPF end up injured by then (not hoping, just factual). However, their defence is underrated. It’s conceded the least points for the season.

We play the same way against these teams as we did against Demons, and the sky is the limit.

If we win less than 4 out of the 5 games, we are probably just a top 8 team or missing the 8. This block of 5 games is massive for us, as we have three 50/50 games in the next block.

We should make the finals with a good run. We should be 12-5 or that sets us up well for a crack at top 4. I think about 16 wins might see us squeeze in to the top 4. But that’s for another thread.

LETS GO PIES!!

It really should be the next 3 (win them all)
Then the next four (the litmus test all tough opponents)
Then the last three (doesnt really matter if we stuff up the middle four)

In context of the next five, its simply non negotiable that have to win the next three, and hansomely to continue clawing back percentage.
That will set us up with a top four clash against West Coast. Reckon we can beat North too.

To limp into finals 3-2 is a pass. Maybe.
To make top four or a home elimination final 4-1 is a requirement.

And we should be reintroducing Elliott, Moore, Varcoe, and Fasolo in the first week or two after the break, and hopefully give Sier a run in there somewhere as well.

Fasolo is so far away from our best side

Happy with Elliott and Moore, but Varcoe and Fasolo are surplus imo.

Yesterday was sensational. We needed a scalp to legitimise our finals aspirations and have a win against someone in the top 8. Port and the Hawks have much easier runs home than we do so putting another 4 points between us and them was huge.

We should go 4-1 at least, on current form. That puts us at 12 and 5, needing only 1 win from the last 5 rounds (and a good percentage) to make finals.

Yesterday's win was massive for our season.
13 wins would be finals I’d suggest.

% more about ladder position with like minded teams (points equal)

16-6 would have been good enough for top 4 in previous 2 years. This team could definitely do that, still feels a bit unlikely but for the first time in a while I'm genuinely excited to watch games and see how far we can go :rainbow:

I feel the Essendon game will be very interesting too, I don't think that one will be a walk over

North got very little depth, a few injuries in the next few weeks will sort them out. But if they are still having a charmed run then that will be tough too. Just happy that one isn't a home game at Etihad..

I trust the club does not get ahead of themselves. Too many times over the past 7-8 years we have dropped games we should have won. I sense a new resolve in this team with competition for spots hotting up so players will know they need to perform or risk being dropped.

Next 2 games against Carlton and the Suns we must win. That gets us to 10 wins for the year with 12 wins being the benchmark to make finals in years gone by. You would think we are in with a big chance to snare 15 wins which should get us into the top 4. Of course not easy but entirely feasible that we win 5 of the last 8.

Focused on the next game and hoping they absolutely demolish the bluesers. 80 point win minimum.

I think competition for spots can be a real driver for this team and the players look much happier this season than seasons past,we need to take it 1 at a time but there is some momentum building nicely.
I think the way it looks you really have earn your spot and that will do it for me nicely.
