This. The AFC is in a very vulnerable position at the moment with its players. Sando may have been on his last legs with a lot of the list as reported, but the club hasn't helped in regards to its list management or administration either.

The club is in desperate need of a coach who can connect and unite all of its players, not just the best 22. Anyone who saw Bassett coach at Norwood could see how much his players respected him. He bleeds passion and has the tactical nous to stand up at AFL.

He well and truly stood on his own two feet at Norwood; having not been an assistant for an extended period of time is not a weakness. Be brave Adelaide. If Bass says he's up for it, give him a go.

Also left a club, which has had a huge list turn over in great shape, eyeing off a third straight flag. Bassett impresses me.

IMO Sando was all Duck and no Dinner and failed to execute the fundamentals of a good coach

Don't want someone who can do a fantastic PowerPoint presentation, I want someone who knows how to unite a group, prepare a team and coach on match day with footy smarts and on instinct

Dew won a premiership at Port as a player in 04, Hawks as a player in 08, Swans as an assistant coach in 2012. If he is our senior coach....2016 will be a good year if you know what I mean

Sadly he signed a 3 year extension at Hawthorn at the start of the year. No chance at all unfortunately

Remember, early last year, Stuey Dew was the one that Paul Roos tried to get to Melbourne as his successor so Roos must rate him very highly.

Swans then countered that by making Dew the senior assistant which foiled Roos and Melbourne.

Add the 2014 flag to Dews CV and it reads pretty well. Need to have a clean out of lame assistants, get some that have arses that fit the seats!

We must NOT appoint an ex Crow, we must break the old boys network completely, it's what's led to our current state of malaise.

If Fagan is true to his word in getting the best people in the right spots, they need to sit Clarkson down and lay some big numbers on the table. Break contracts and pay them out, just get it done! Failing that do the same to Longmire, how good would it be to steal Sydney's coach!

It would be a match made in heaven if we can somehow get Clarkson however due to him just signing with the club again for another two years I would highly doubt it happening, considering not all contracts have an exit clause of sorts.

Dew has been an assistant coach with the Sydney Swans the past two seasons, looking after the defence in 2011 and is in charge of stoppages this season.

Dew retired at the end of the 2009 season after being drafted to Port Adelaide in the 1996 National Draft. He played a total of 206 AFL games, 180 for Port Adelaide before spending his final two seasons at Hawthorn. He won a premiership with Port Adelaide in 2004 and another with Hawthorn in 2008.

Following the departure of Brett Allison to North Melbourne, Dew joined the Swans late in 2009 as a development coach.

Debut: 1996 (Port Adelaide), Games 180, Goals 245. 2008 (Hawthorn), Games 26, Goals 20.

We get another untried coach or we throw everything at convincing Bomber Thompson to get on board. I don't see another proven performer out there and available.

Personally I think its got to be Bomber.

As much as I like the look of Bassett, one year in the system is probably not enough. Not really all that positive about Goodwin. Both being ex Crows also concerns me.

Dew IMO just wont come.
