Very speculitive, though reading Burgan and associated predictions, Talia seems to be the next best. Alot of hype about Black but he is overage. Would be happy with either of those. But if we are looking for a late pick or rookie Daniel Archer from Clarence maybe worth a look at.

Please can we draft that guy - I loved blood diamond.

Aaron Black can play as a KPF or defender - and is probably agile enough to move into the middle as well. He looks like he could have something special and would be a perfect fit. Excellent work rate and attitude apparantly also which will help his cause.

I think we'll go for him and hope that one of Carlisle or Vardy is around at 18.

wouldnt want vardy at 18.. could even slide to 34

Would be inclined towards Talia, I think.

Talia=Hurley mk.2 (minus the thug i hope). Good option for CHF or CHB

And master bate, I agree, lets draft him. Awesome movie :D

Agree he's not the 18th best player but we might consider needs depending on whos left. If we're happy with the KPP at pick 11 I could see us taking the best ruckman in the draft.

Also - seriously doubt Vardy will last to 43 mate.

IMO Vardy would be a massive waste. There are no standout ruckman in the draft so why waste a first round pick (or P18) on someone who is only mediocre. I say no to the ‘life’s a party Nathan Vardy’ fan club.

Black and Watts play a very similar role, but I think that Black could be a real surprise packet from this years draft. He play’s as key forward, but has also played back and has even played through the midfield so is a real ala Goodsie type so the doubling up effect is somewhat nullified.

At P18 i want us to take another KPF. Carlisle looks credentialed and probably still available but I’m starting to lean towards Griffiths. He is going to be a beast of a man and would compliment Watts, Black, Jurrah and Bate as the big bodied pack crashing forward circa David Neitz. I can’t help but think his stocks have been a little under valued given his injuries.

I think we may as well wait and if we use pick 34 take a ruckman then. Fitzpatrick, would be a massive coup to get him that late as he has plenty of upside, Gawn at 206cm and only 18 years of age could still easily be growing or even Craig as a late (relative term) project.

i take it u mean 34 (not 43) and i could see him sliding as he is said to be the 'best' ruckman in the draft.. that doesnt make him a 'good' ruckman

Where do you think Panos will end up going? I've seen reports ranging from top 10 to mid 20s. Would he be worth 11 or would we be better to hope that he slides to 18 (or not bother at all with him)?

I do like the fact that, apart from Panos and Black, they are all very tall forwards. No more almost tall enough key forwards like Bate and Dunn.

My personal thoughts on Panos are he is a definite top 20 prospect, just not for us.

You hit the nail on the head with the Bate and Dunn comment. Jurrah is in the same boat. IMO we need a big gorilla type forward, someone who can split packs, crunch the defender zoning off and force the contested ball to ground inside forward 50.

Panos by all reports is an aggressive player is a reliable shot on goal and at 192cm he isn’t exactly short so if we did end up taking him he’s no spud so its all good. I just want Jonathan Brown V2.0 not another Mathew Bate.

Any chance we could rookie Levi Casboult as well at Simpson or just too many KPF on the rookie list. Hopefully Zomer gets the boot.

Jurrah is the same height as Bate and Dunn but he'd be a different full forward. Bate was tried as the standard leading full forward who could also sit in the goal square and it failed. He seems destined to be a flanker. Jurrah, on the other hand, can just float around and do his magic.

Jurrah does need to have freedom. We therefore need a big target in the goalsquare, in addition to Watts at CHF who can go deep too.

I suspect that each of Butcher, Black, Talia and Carlisle will be gone by pick 18 which leaves us with Griffiths and Taylor. I dont rate Griffiths (slow, non-agile, non-athletic) and Taylor has had big enough issues off field to not take the risk.

That leaves either a ruckman (Vardy, Fitzpatrick or Craig) or just the next best player.

So if we are faced with the scenario where all decent KPP's are gone like I suspect I would be considering who is left as best available, and if its nothing special then Vardy is the man.

Ok hes not a super ruckman but he's better potential than anyone we've got imo. Excellent with his tap work and likes using his strong body to block and tackle, reads the play very well and knows how to get forward and kick a goal too.

we HAVE to get Daniel Talia. will be the next Luke Hodge.. surely we shouldnt waste our pick 11 on some second rate medium forward like Black. take Daniel Talia at 11 and then Jake Carlisle at 18

Some good points D16.

Can only see Port, Carlton and us going KP in round 1 which takes care of Butcher, Talia and Black. Leaving us with either best availible mid or our choice of Panos, Carlisle or Griffiths still around at P18.

Would be intereseted in your thoughts on Black? If we only select Black as a KP type are we potentially selecting to much of the one type of player. Ihave mixed feelings on Black. At 192/193cm and a similar build to Watts is he a little small for KP duties? Should we target Talia as the second best KP at 11 and hope Black slides?

How old is Black? If he hasn't stopped growing then it could be worth picking him up.
But I would only pick up a KPF at 11 then best available at 18 and Craig or Gawn at 34.
We may be able to pick up Simpson and Casboult in the rookie draft as mature aged players and hope one of them can have an immediate impact.

I'm really glad I'm not BP. What massive decisions he has to make with picks 11, 18 and 34. I get nervous just thinking about it.

I'm with Sexc though. Talia just looks a player in the very limited footage I have seen of him. His game against SA in the carnival showed a mature player with an ability to read the play very well. You can't teach that.

its a huge decision, in 4 years time when talia is a star and the dud forward we draft has been delisted people may look back at this draft and think "how could they let him slip".. but some of you delusional MFC support will say NOW if we draft talia over a KF "no no no.. needs needs needs.. we already have lots of tall backs, why get another one" i would easily replace a tall back with a BETTER tall back.

promising swingmen like talia dont grow on trees (but average undersized key forwards do)

But Talia may turn out to be a dud as well. You can't have your blinkers on and look at one player only. You look at all of the players and see there positives and negatives, if they're gonna grow anymore, athleticism etc. Then you cut down your decision to say 3 players and you continue the process. At the moment we have a HUGE need for a KPF and I think we need to get a true fwd instead of a swingman who has played most of his games in the backline.
