Its going to happen. We might as well admit it now. Which Tiger player is going to explode, and make an impact like Foley of 07.

Look to the Pre-Season for a good indicator also. Foley dominated Terry's Nab Pre-Season thingo he did last year. I reckon some early training form will give us a pretty good indicator of who is ready to go.

Personally, i think it'll be Jack Riewoldt. This kid looks very good, i know KPP often take long to develop, but after a few games last year, Jack really looked comfortable and i think he'll be the exception.

Thoughts?

i think it might be a bit early for jack but players that have been on our list for a few years now such as kel moore, shultz, and newman i see as having big years. I also think edwards and connors will be stars of the future. After seeing the training photos kel moore actually looks like a fit footballer now.

So did Cam Howat. :(

Very possible. My picks would be Connors or Collins.

Very possible. My picks would be Connors or Collins.

Howat didnt dominate to the extent Foley did.

Howat was high due to the amount of speed and pace training drills were involved in the overall programme. I doubt he was as effective in the other drills which involved strength as such (not having a crack, just saying his pace and speed are his real strengths, not physical power)

Foley came first (i think) which indicates he was strong in all areas.

Connors would be my second pick certainley. He also showed alot at the end of 07. :thumbsu:

haha Jack Riewoldt...not quite yet mate! Still too young might play 15 games at most this year. My tip is Tambo..he'll be just as good as Foley was this year!

Oh i dont know. Its not exactly unheard of to have a KPP come out of the blue. And you cant tell me Jack didnt look very good in certain games. I thought near the end of the season, Jack was looking very lively. He's certainley in my best 22.

With a little weight and grunt put into him, he should string a few quality games together. I dont think ive seen our younger KPP put consistent trying performances like Jack did this year. Thursfield would be the exception.

It's going to be Tambling in my opinion. Looking at the training photos he looks very fit and strong and any other player given half a chance has talked up his training efforts so far this pre-season. He doesn't look too much bigger just harder and more matured which will see him able to play his natural game amongst the men consistently.

Moore. No doubts there.

Tambling will lift.

Johnson will lift

have a feeling JON might find his feet.

It would be great to see Tambling have an impact this year and I would also like Travis Casserly to play some senior games.

Improvement from any of the young big bodied brigade would also be most welcome.

I'd have to agree with Tambling guys. By the end of last season he was evading players and penitrating the forward line really well but only hitting 60% of his targets. With another preseason he is going to re lite the Tambling , Franklin debate.

Other players I think will show huge improvement and really play big parts in the side are King ,Mcguane, Jackson , Conners , Edwards , Pattison and Moore

Reiwolt needs to work on his disposal under pressure and then he'll be great.

Newman has the ability to establish himself as a Markee player.

Hit prodictions , Cotchin , Rance , Collins

For me the kid that will come from no where will be Andrew Collins

I think Moore will also play quite a few games as he is looking really fit and has finally filled out.

Polo, Tambling, etc. will probably continue to improve but i can't see them breaking out

Alot of talk about Collins. Don't know much about him other than his size. Does he play midfield usually?

He was a midfielder but in U18 he had players like Joel Selwood and Daniel Connors pushing him into a back pocket all year.

Collins is a good find because he is a very polished footballer - great kick, great mark, tall midfielder, good defensively etc.

They called it the "Superdraft" because of the depth allowing players like Collins to last through to the 5th round.

I'm not sure if it'll be as soon as next year but I was lucky enough to be in Sydney when the Tigers played the Swans at the SCG. Although Sydney dominated Jack Riewoldt was very impressive despite the fact that his possession count was very low. He moved well and found space in a crowded forward line very well, his work with Richardson was also exemplary for a first year player. IMO he's going to be a very good KPP within 2-3 years.

Jackson for mine.
As Foley did in 06, Jackson finished off 07 with a bang. He is exactly the sort of footballer we need. Big bodied, hard at it, whilst being quick and atheletic. I think both him and lids could battle out our B&F with foley there abouts too.

Shane Edwards, Clayton Collard if he can get some games and Deledio will have a very good year. Also think Mitch Morton will go alright but dont know how long the backline expirement will go for, i can see him playing forward from about round 10 onwards.

I don't think there'll be anyone like Foley in terms of style and being a ball magnet, but I do think Tambling, Deledio, Pattison and Jackson are ready to take the next steps and have much bigger seasons than in past years.

Of the younger brigade, Connors and Edwards should continue to make good progress, but I highly doubt they'll be quite ready to have big impacts just yet.

The best thing about this year is the guys coming back from injury are going to have to work really hard to cement a spot in the team unlike previous years. Guys like Polo and Coughlan who I dearly love and rate are not walk up starts for the team. If Cotchin and Rance step up which is very likely our depth this year will be spot on.

My only nervousness is our Rucks again and I think we need another tall in the backline , maybe Pattison to step up across half back.

Polak will excell across half forward this year and in my opinion should stay there.

Andy Collins speculative pick for NAB Rising star possible All Australian.

Foley dominated the VFL for about 2 years before breaking into the line-up in '06 for one or two games. He consistently trained the house down at Punt Rd during this time. No youngster tries half as hard as Foley at training (maybe Deledio) and consequently no new Foley's for a few years yet IMO. Foley is the exception that I can see and therefore it was no great surprise to see his rise, I would however be taken aback if any of our other youngsters make the AA top 40 and one vote off B&F. No doubt the youngsters will improve next year and beyond, but not as much as we all hope they will.

big wraps, any basis to the speculation? nothing against him but from the training pics he still looks very young bodywise and he's barely gotten a game in the VFL - through no fault of his own, but still...
