This new Sydney draft sound’s interesting. As I understand it clubs will be able to go out and go get a kid , no draft , just spot the talent and sign him up. A little bit of a throw back to the old days when drafting meant paper bags, new cars and being first to get the kid signature on the contract. First in, best dressed. Carlton must be creamin themselves. This is the system that made them most successful club of all time. Not that in this case it will have that sort of dramatic effect. There wasn’t one kid drafted last year although I think a couple were Rookied but have no doubt somewhere down the track a kid from NSW is going to pop up that’s a Riewoldt, a Carey or a Hird. Then there will be an almighty whine fest and they’ll change it again
