An England XI and not an Englishman among them. You’ve got a Scot, Indian, Zim, SAfr, Irish, NZer, PNGer, Aussie, Barbadian, Guyanan, Jamaica Man

Tbf the England team encompassed both Scotland and Wales in Denness’s time. Now it includes wales but not Scotland

As a replacement may I offer the great Gavin Hamilton

It even had a Welsh captain in that era

I see Derek Pringle in that clip.

Reminds me of the 1989 Ashes tour where Pringle played and did absolutely nothing.

Some of the crowd started singing ' If Pringle plays for England so can I'

I believe the original of this ditty was about the Neville brothers, Gary and Phil.

This song taught me how to pronounce Pietermaritzburg

RULES: Drafting an all time cricket XI with 2 teams.

SUMMARY: The draft order was set by a coin toss with Team B winning. They elected to pick 2nd so effectively Team A had picks 1 and 4 while Team B had picks 2 and 3 and so on.

RESULTS: A fun idea for you to try with another mate. We did this over a few beers with no looking up stats either so go easy on us.

  • Who have we missed/drafted too early?

Anderson, Walsh? Anderson I somewhat understand but Walsh ahead of Marshall, Garner, Holding? Also team B with Kallis and Imran could have easily picked a second spinner like Kumble

I did question the Walsh pick at the time. I was Team A and had Lillee for my last pick and nearly went for Marshall but wasn’t quite sure. Upon looking at the stats afterwards I would have preferred taking him. He also had a nice batting average for a bowler.

Interesting point about the spinner, never crossed my mind for him to take another one. Murali was already picked near the end for him as he knew I wasn’t taking him as I already had Warne.
