Yep.

They gave an OBE to Michael Vaughan and Duncan Fletcher as captain and coach, respectively, but they also gave an OBE to the chairman of selectors (David Graveney) and the team manager (somebody named Phil Neale, apparently).

They then gave MBEs to everyone who played a test in that series, and the team admin manager, which is a job I didn't know existed until just now.

Their women's team beat us for the first time in 40+ years that season, too, but the captain got an OBE and everybody else missed out entirely.

With a certain former English cricketer in Australia at present to commentate on The Ashes, here is an Eleven associated with walking.

Barry Richards I think it was Ian Brayshaw who told this story about Richards. When playing for South Australia in 1970-71, Richards was on 321 not out against Western Australia facing up to the last ball of the day from Dennis Lillee. Brayshaw states that Richards casually walked down the wicket and drove Lillee over his head for four and then kept walking to the pavilion.
Adam Gilchrist Well-known for hearing a little voice in his head during the 2003 world Cup in a game against Sri Lanka telling him to walk after he hit a ball to the keeper and walked before the umpire needed to adjudicate.
Phil Simmons If you can remember the 1992-93 summer you might remember Simmons regularly taking a long time to walk off the ground after being dismissed during the one-day series. I remember some team mates who enjoyed mocking Simmons during training sessions when they walked away from the wicket after batting practice. Simmons won the Player of the Preliminary Series award even though he did not pass 50 with the bat. His bowling and fielding obviously won him the award, especially his effort of 4-3 off 10 overs against Pakistan at Sydney.
Viv Richards Viv seemed to have the coolest and most confident walk whenever he strode to the wicket. Some people have written that it was a walk of arrogance, but who wouldn't want his list of achievements?
Clive Lloyd Lloyd walked with a slight stoop, but he was a very powerful hitter and cunning captain. A stat you probably will not know: (according to The Age match report) after being dismissed in his final Test innings at Sydney in 1985, Lloyd walked 105 paces to get off the field.
W.G. Grace There is a famous story of Grace refusing to walk in a county game after being dismissed, bellowing to the bowler, "The people have come here to see me bat, not to watch you bowl!", and he kept batting.
Jonny Bairstow You all knew his name would appear here, so with no explanation needed, let's move on.
Stuart Broad He is the certain former English cricketer in Australia at present to commentate on The Ashes, and is remembered (and reviled) for hitting a ball straight to slip in the first Test of the 2013 Ashes series and not walking after the half-dead umpire did not give him out.
Max Walker Well, his name is Walker, so I have included him. Also, team mates used to say my bowling action was a bit similar to Tangles' when I first began playing junior cricket, so he gets into my team.
Rodney Hogg During the first Test against Pakistan on March 11, 1979, Hogg walked out of his crease after patting away a no-ball from Sarfraz but Javed Miandad picked up the ball and ran in and ran Hogg out. Hogg initially walked away but was recalled by Pakistan captain Mushtaq Mohammad while the umpires discussed whether Hogg was officially out. After they decided Hogg did indeed need to walk, Hoggy knocked the stumps down with his bat.
John Cleese I have included Cleese in another team in a previous post, as his name is included in two editions of Wisden for his schoolboy deeds with Clifton College. Thus, for something completely different, I have included the inventor of The Ministry of Silly Walks.
