Looks like the vaccine has been approved in the UK. Very speedy.

Speaking to a doctor who works with my wife at Epworth private hospital the main reasons vacinnes take so long is research into how the virus works (already provided by China), finding funding for development (not an issue with covid vaccibe research) and the finding funding for trials (again not an issue). Vacinnes then generally get sent around for all sorts of approvals and often sit waiting approval for quite some time. All this stuff has been cut out with covid vaccine research due to the ongoing pandemic. IIRC Swine flu vaccine came reasonably quickly and that had nowhere near the resources poured into it that covid did.

Interesting.

All the new series announced from LFL.

The Indiana Jones movie is going to be the last in the series. Good that they are doing another one because the series couldn’t end on whatever the fourth movie was supposed to be.

They should have just left it at 3.....

Can say something similar to that about a lot of movie series, unfortunately. Terminator is another one that should have been left at 2 movies or perhaps done the 3rd in the early 90s. 6 movies deep and the last one tried to act as a Terminator 3, it’s a bit meh at this point. Funnily enough the Sarah Connor Chronicles was as close to a Part 3 as we have gotten and that was canceled after 2 seasons and no resolution.

I actually really liked the latest one.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the latest Terminator film. I thought it was closer to a 3rd film as they’ve done. I just think there has unfortunately been three complete misses for the Terminator franchise and that’s a shame considering the first two films are classics.

Devastated to hear about the passing of my favourite writer, John le Carré. He was a giant of the literary world and had been entertaining audiences since the 1960's. I can't believe that I'll never again experience the joy of reading a new le Carré novel.

Any other fans here?

Never read any novels but know Tinker Tailor was based off one of his books and that was fantastic.

Great shout. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is one of the most underrated films of the 2010's I think. That cast is just phenomenal and it is a superbly directed picture. One of my all time favourite films.

Yeah me. I read the Spy who came in from the Cold and I was hooked . Had to read that book again to fully grasp the plot, but then that could be due to the fact I'm slow on the uptake, haha.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was another great novel. Altogether I have about 6 or 7 paperbacks of his.
Loved watching the original SWCIFTC over the years. Great movie.

I started on The Spy Who Came In From The Cold as well. Instantly hooked and then I went out and got the rest.

Have you read A Legacy of Spies? If not I'd highly recommend it, it was only released in 2017 but it is a follow up of sorts to TSWCIFTC. Set in the modern day as the case is revisited and one of the surviving players is dragged out of retirement to face possible legal action over what happened. There are a lot of brilliant flashbacks that add an entirely new perspective to what happened in TSWCIFTC.

No I haven't and thanks for the heads up. Will put in a cheeky bid for an extra Chrissy present. If that falls on deaf ears I'll just go and buy it. Sounds very interesting.

A few cases popping up on the northern beaches here to go with the Airport van driver who contracted the virus.

Check out this couple:
"Rather than isolate while awaiting their results, as is the law, the couple instead enjoyed a swim, shopping, trips to cafes and a restaurant - as well as a Thai massage.
Those venues have since shut and been deep cleaned, causing panic in the wealthy northern suburbs which have been untouched by coronavirus for many months.
During the time they were waiting for results, they visited multiple venues in Sydney's Palm Beach and Avalon on Sunday and Monday."

****ing selfish campaigners.

It is astounding how some people think they are above the law.

Teacher at my wife's school is a close contact with them so her schools shut down today. Was the last day anyway.

Why is that when these cases pop up, the people in question seem to go on an absolute bender? It almost seems like they're trying to deliberately cause trouble. It happened in QLD with the two slappers, here in SA (where a positive case went from a K-Mart on one side of town to a Foodland in the other) and now in NSW.
