Gladys done f’ed up here. Putting politics before people like the corrupt witch she is.

Hasn't ****ed up at all but go for your life with your narrative.

Well, besides the sitting on hands, limiting this 'lockdown' to certain areas (long after the horse has bolted) is clearly going to be ineffective. Doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

And yet the limited lockdown of the Northern Beaches was fine. There seems a strange desperation verging on perversion from Victorians to see NSW go into a full lockdown. If we have to, we will, but not before every avenue is explored. People's liveliehood is at stake, and rushing into a lockdown on the back of a number of cases - all with known and traceable links - would have been reckless.

But somehow I suspect your political persuasion is shining through here, not your genuine concern for the people of NSW.

You reference narrative & political persuasion, yet that's the essence of the NSW Libs' function.

The 900 exposures in the Double Bay salon were reason alone for a lockdown. You'd suspect half would make up an even spread of Greater Sydney.

North Shore's strain wasn't delta - therefore not a comparable situation. Traces of the virus have been found in Bourke, 800km NW of Sydney. It's probable the virus' spread extends beyond the 4 hotspots.

A sick economy is a weak economy - contrary to the Murdoch rhetoric. It's a catch-22; may as well keep people safe & not risk overloading health facilities.

And we'll probably end up in a lockdown much to your delight, but until its necessary we'll manage the way we've been managing.

Weird thing to laugh at mate, in pretty poor taste too I would have thought. The glee at the prospect of NSW going into lockdown is rather childish. As you yourself said, the Delta strain is incomparable to the strains of COVID we've encountered in the past, so if it's virulent enough to even send the best contact tracing State into lockdown, then it's pretty bad. The fact we were able to so quickly identify the locations hit has certainly curbed the impact, and if it had gotten loose in Victoria then you'd be back in lockdown for much longer.

Sorry friend, I had meant to click 'sad face'. If there was literal humour from my end, it'd have been in response to your insinuation that a Sydney lockdown would delight me.

I don't think the impact has been curbed at all. The Libs have sat on their hands, and when pushed by the AMA introduced naive, insufficient measures to fight what is so clearly a different beast of a strain.

This 'gold standard' shit is pretty much a red herring. You're not off to a good start this time around.

Questions still to be answered on Vicco's CT, but Qld/WA have defused outbreaks with Dandrews-esque methodology. It's only unnecessary & Marxist, however when Vicco locks down.

The Perth lockdown was also unnecessary, evidenced by the massive 0 additional cases after the original case.

The infected man was exposed to the wider Perth community. The lockdown achieved as planned. McGowan had no choice - hindsight plays into your hands, but the proactive, swift Labor method does have the points on the board.

The mainstream media can spout whatever they want - there's no empirical evidence to back up their narrative.

Lockdown after he had exposed the community and no community cases says that the lockdown was an overreaction, that's an irrefutable fact. If contact tracing had done it's job and alerted people who had been exposed, who had self-isolated and tested and returned negative before a decision on lockdown was made, no lockdown would have been required.

It has zero points on the board and has harmed the liveliehoods of people the country over. But you continue your one-eyed narrative all you want mate.

Pretty much. You could be the UK who went into lockdown late and that went well for them. Or the Irish government who opened up in November and January was a horror for the health system.

It was a quickfire circuit breaker. It achieved its purpose - regardless, it'd be better to be over than underprepared. Being on the weekend it wouldn't have compromised the livelihood of many (if any).

Well, my view is that the Labor lockdown method has saved thousands of lives.

In a non-vaccinated society, there isn't any other option. The virus has killed 4 million people worldwide.

Count your lucky stars we're in Australia, and that the authority lies with the states (and not the business-first, chop & change Coalition).

Also this is a bit worrying

Key distinction not in the tweet; unknowingly or knowingly infectious/symptoms?

If they were knowingly operating while infectious I think the fine should be bloody massive for them and the salon.

You went early yesterday in your desire to gleefully dance on any potential news of a lockdown, all the while missing the entire distinction between the two approaches.

I think we will likely end up in lockdown, but we have done everything possible to mitigate any impact to people's livliehood, unlike your state.

Maybe cruyff is asking a genuine question about Gladys, who knows. Figured out last year he and JD both excuse Andrews and think he’s done well.

Naturally, I think he’s been an incompetent fool, as evidenced over numerous lockdowns, and generally 8 years of prior ineptness. But no doubt the dunce will be re-elected as our state LNP here are about as useless as could be.

Less worried by the fact that they were operating, more worried by the "up to 900 contacts" thing.

Yes, it was genuine.

In a global sense I think he has done well. And not too different to Ardern who has been looked at as the real gold standard around the world as evidenced with 2 NZ cities dominating the Economist's lasting ratings for most liveable cities in the world. Sometimes luck goes your way a little bit, sometimes it goes against you.

Some say it's the COVID management that has Auckland as the most liveable city in the world, I say it's me moving here. Hard to know really.

Sad news for those on here, no general lockdown announced. Here's hoping you guys get your validation tomorrow.
They've also fixed the confusing numbers issue.

By solving it backwards. Now we have less information.
