You say that but when cancer isn't being tested for let alone treated because of Covid it makes fu** all sense. It's pretty hard to get a gp appointment at the moment and most are done over the phone.

The root cause of this^ is failure to control the virus, not government imposed restrictions.

Access to health services dropped off because hospitals were full and because GPs and their patients were taking precautions to avoid getting infected. This was happening well before stay at home orders and the like were issued.

Where has it all gone wrong over the last 10-14 days?
Mixed signals from the government (only do essential shopping but all retail can stay open) and people just outright not following the rules I think.

Like one of the cases was linked to a Kathmandu store??

My 2c in February after the northern beaches outbreak:
Like I said, I don't think people fully appreciate how much risk NSW government take on through their approach, and how lucky they were, thankfully it worked.

It didn't work this time.

They have messed it up so bad.

People smashed Dan but it his stance worked.

His stance led to months on end of lockdown, don't think we're quite there yet friend.

This is why I pushed back pretty hard on your "genuine" questioning at the start of this as you've made pretty clear over the last few days you're just looking to use this as a stick to beat NSW with and defend your failure of a Premier.

Because Dan is a campaigner
.
Probably, but at least he has the best interests of his constituents at heart, unlike Glad-Ass and Slow-Mo, who have clearly placed profits above the greater good of community health.

At any rate it is possible to criticize both Vic and NSW premiers.

Sometimes I think it's better to be a centralist in politics, so many biased and selfish nuffies on both the left and right wing ends of the political spectrum (least here in Australia)

Would be nice if everyone put aside petty political point scoring and work together in order to combat this unprecedented global health/pandemic crisis.

I am really sick and tired of this our state handled it better than your state shithousery when it comes to the COVID crisis in Australia.

Every state in the country overhauled their hotel quarantine setup and outbreak response plans following the Victorian outbreak last year. Despite what you might read in Murdoch rags, Andrews wasn’t alone in heading up a flawed system, he (and Victorians) were just the first to be punished for those flaws. This is often overlooked.

Since learning those harsh lessons, he and Victorians have obviously adopted a different and far more decisive approach to outbreak scenarios. This has pros and cons. Sometimes hindsight will show a short lockdown wasn’t required. Sometimes it can’t be proven definitively that a major outbreak was averted.

NSW approach has pros and cons too - when it works it looks proportionate and sensible, but it definitely comes with higher risk of the virus getting off the leash as we’ve seen over the last few weeks. Unfortunately this lockdown will be far longer and more disruptive than it probably needed to be.

I guess people will have different ideas on whether these trade offs are acceptable.

Hear hear.

Dan’s incompetent mess killed 800 Victorians.. and before we get a retort about most being in Fed controlled aged care.

The Feds operate aged care the same around the country yet no other state had this rate of death. they aren’t the common denominator here.

We have an incompetent state government, who for some bizarre reason sees his ratings go higher.

What's it like in Ireland for going to pubs etc?
Can go outdoor and that's it. But they allowed pubs who don't serve food to do it. Supposed to stay for only 1:45 if tables are less than 2m apart but no one pays attention to that. Tables of 6 also but again.. groups never pay attention when you're drunk and that's I guess why they shut them down in the first place.

Are they being ultra cautious or is Ireland behind other European countries in containing the virus?

Anything else?

Nothing else in your post seemed to merit a response? You're right there are pros and cons to the NSW approach and you're right that the VIC failings were not unique to them (they were the only ones who had the spread of cases due to poor contract tracing of course). What did you want me to say?

You agree with the rest? Just seemed an odd point to pick out of my post. That’s all.

Anyway. Good luck mate. Unfortunately I suspect you’re in for a tough month or 2. Look after yourself.
